Job summary

Jobtailor in Bengaluru seeks an experienced mechanical design engineer to own rear axle and final drive components, collaborating with suppliers and cross‑functional teams. You will use Siemens NX for solid modeling and CAE analyses, develop prototypes with suppliers, and ensure designs meet functional, packaging, durability, and manufacturing requirements.

Fluent English, Teamcenter or similar PLM, and strong stakeholder skills complete the profile for delivering innovative, cost‑effective axle

Qualifications

• B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in automotive OEM or Tier 1.
• Expertise in rear axle design, GD&T, and drawing specifications.
• Strong Siemens NX design skill is mandatory.
• Experience with NX CAE for structural analysis and component analysis.
• Experience designing axle components and prototypes with suppliers.

• Design rear axle and final drive components, including housings, gears, shafts, wheel hubs, and casted and forged housings
• Design components according to functional, durability, packaging, and manufacturing requirements
• Develop prototype parts with suppliers for testing
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and suppliers to develop axle components
• Solve problems of complex scope using standard concepts and principles
• Suggest process improvements and cost optimization ideas
• Contribute innovation relevant to the project module

Requirements

• B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical or Automotive engineering
• Minimum 3 years of experience in automotive OEM or Tier 1
• Expertise in rear axle design, GD&T, and drawing specifications
• Strong Siemens NX design skill is mandatory
• Good knowledge of axle and transmission components
• Knowledge of NX CAE simulation for structural, axle system, and component analysis
• Experience designing innovative and cost-competitive axle and final drive systems based on functional, packaging, durability, and manufacturing requirements
• Experience designing axle components including housings, gears, shafts, castings, forgings, and sheet metal components
• Experience developing prototypes with suppliers and conducting functional testing
• Siemens NX experience of at least 2 years, including Solid Modelling, Sheet Metal, Tubing/Mechanical Routing, Drafting, and CAE-Structural modules
• Experience with Siemens Teamcenter or a similar PLM tool
• Fluent spoken and written English
• Experience independently handling design responsibility for axle components, preferably with an OEM or Tier 1 supplier
• Stakeholder management and supplier interaction skills, including explaining design intent and understanding manufacturing limitations
• Awareness of QMS requirements
• Knowledge of automotive parts lifecycle management and transmission component solutions
• Technical expertise in component design and field failure management
• Proficiency with MS Office, including Excel and PowerPoint
• Knowledge of Agile
• Ability to prepare meeting minutes, prioritize tasks, and communicate straightforwardly
• Ability to adapt priorities to changing scenarios
