Job summary

FRO Tech Services in Mumbai seeks an experienced automation engineer to design and implement PLC, HMI and SCADA solutions for water and wastewater projects. You will craft architectures and control philosophies, develop PLC programs, and prepare electrical drawings.

You will also generate I/O lists, instrument lists, and cable schedules, integrate field devices, conduct FAT/SAT, and support commissioning at customer sites. Travel to sites will be required to ensure timely project delivery.

Qualifications

• Experience with PLC, HMI and SCADA in water and wastewater projects.
• Ability to read electrical and control drawings.
• Knowledge of industrial communication protocols (Modbus, Ethernet/IP, Profinet).
• Willingness to travel to customer sites for commissioning and support.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

Job description

Key Responsibilities

• Develop automation solutions for water and wastewater treatment plants.
  
• Prepare PLC, HMI and SCADA system architecture and control philosophies.
  
• Develop PLC programs and HMI/SCADA applications.
  
• Prepare control panel and electrical/control system drawings.
  
• Prepare I/O lists, instrument lists, cable schedules, and other automation documentation.
  
• Configure and integrate field instruments, PLCs, VFDs, MCCs, control panels, and other automation equipment.
  
• Conduct FAT, SAT, testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning activities.
  
• Visit customer/project sites for installation support, commissioning, and system testing.
  
• Troubleshoot PLC, HMI/SCADA, communication, instrumentation, and control-system issues.
  
• Coordinate with electrical, instrumentation, mechanical, and project teams.
  
• Coordinate with clients and contractors during commissioning and project execution.
  
• Prepare commissioning reports, test reports, and project documentation.
  
• Ensure projects are completed within the required technical and project timelines.
  
• Travel to customer sites as required for project execution and commissioning.
  

Required Skills

• Good knowledge of PLC, HMI and SCADA systems.
  
• Experience with automation systems used in water/wastewater treatment plants will be an advantage.
  
• Knowledge of industrial communication protocols such as Modbus, Ethernet/IP, Profibus/Profinet, etc.
  
• Understanding of VFDs, motors, sensors, transmitters, control valves, and other field devices.
  
• Ability to read and understand electrical and control drawings.
  
• Knowledge of AutoCAD/EPLAN or similar engineering software is preferred.
  
• Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  
• Willingness to travel to project/customer sites.
  
• Good communication and coordination skills.
