Job Description / Responsibilities
The scope of responsibilities includes but is not limited to:
- Perform static structural analysis for key compressor components (casing, rotor, shaft, bearing housing, valve covers, etc.) using tools like ANSYS or Altair.
- Conduct dynamic analysis including rotor-dynamics, modal, harmonic, and time-transient studies for rotating assemblies.
- Carry out pulsation and mechanical vibration analysis (per API 618/API 672/ISO standards) to assess pipe stress, foundation loads, and nozzle loads.
- Perform CFD simulations (internal flow, pressure drops, thermal gradients, etc.) for compressors and associated piping using tools like ANSYS Fluent or CFX.
- Support optimization of compressor component design by correlating simulation results with test and field data.
- Prepare and review CAE reports and technical documentation for internal teams, customers, and certifying agencies.
- Contribute to root cause analysis (RCA) and failure investigations using simulation tools and multi-physics approaches.
- Collaborate closely with R&D sub-teams, testing, and manufacturing teams for product validation and design improvements.
- Drive innovation in simulation workflows, automation, and adoption of advanced CAE technologies including AI/ML-assisted simulations.
- Ensure all analyses and documentation adhere to internal quality standards, international design codes, and safety guidelines.
Skills /Competencies Required
- Strong expertise in CAE tools such as ANSYS (Mechanical, Fluent, CFX), Abaqus, HyperMesh, or COMSOL.
- Solid understanding of fundamentals in structural mechanics, rotor dynamics, vibration, acoustics, and fluid dynamics.
- Hands-on experience in pulsation analysis and design of compressor piping systems based on API standards.
- Proficiency in CFD meshing, solver setup, and post-processing for rotating machinery and flow equipment.
- Knowledge of design codes and standards such as ASME, API, ISO, etc.
