Job summary

Fortune Personnel Services is seeking a Field Service Engineer to perform installation, commissioning, maintenance, repair and overhaul of compressors at customer sites and workshops in Chennai. The role requires 10–12 years in compressor overhaul in Refineries/Petrochemical/Fertilizer plants and a mechanical engineering degree or diploma.

Travel across regions will be extensive (60–70%). You will ensure safety, quality and timely reporting using ESM/ERP systems and maintain strong customer

G. Responsibilities & Role Requirements Service Execution

1. Service Operations

• Perform installation, commissioning, maintenance, repair, and overhaul of compressors and related equipment at customer sites and workshop facilities.
• Execute service assignments in accordance with service standards, technical specifications, and operating procedures.
• Diagnose mechanical and operational failures, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
• Conduct preventive maintenance activities as per established maintenance schedules.
• Support repair and overhaul activities for both core and non-core compressor components.
• Provide technical recommendations to customers regarding equipment upgrades, reliability improvements, and performance optimization.
• Ensure proper use, maintenance, and calibration of tools, instruments, and service equipment.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment at all times.
• Travel extensively (6070%) to support customer service requirements across assigned regions.
• Adhere strictly to company quality, safety, and environmental policies during all service activities.

2. Service Documentation & Reporting

• Create, update, and maintain service projects in the ESM system, including labor hours, material consumption, technical findings, and project progress.
• Prepare accurate and timely service reports, inspection reports, job completion reports, and timesheets.
• Ensure all service documentation is completed and submitted in accordance with
• Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, spare parts usage, and customer interactions.
• Provide timely updates to customers, service management, and head office regarding project status and technical issues.
• Prepare parts lists and technical recommendations required for service jobs.

3. Customer Support & Business Development

• Act as the primary technical representative while working at customer sites.
• Develop and maintain professional relationships with customers to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
• Identify potential business opportunities, service needs, and aftermarket sales opportunities within the assigned region.
• Generate and communicate market intelligence and sales leads to support business growth.
• Support quotation preparation and spare parts identification as required.
