Job summary

Coats Group plc is seeking a Health & Safety professional to oversee operational safety, ensure legislative compliance, and provide assurance through audits and gap assessments. The role focuses on setting safety standards, conducting audits, and training personnel across manufacturing sites in India.

The ideal candidate will have five or more years of experience in industrial safety, a relevant safety diploma or degree, and proficiency in Tamil.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Safety or higher in Industrial Safety fields as per TN Govt approvals.
• ME/MTech in Industrial Safety Engineering preferred.
• Proficiency with MS Office and safety management software.

Responsibilities

• Review and update Safety Standards for all processes.
• Conduct shop floor safety audits and identify improvement opportunities.
• Develop and audit SOPs to ensure best safety standards.
• Prepare and implement health & safety trainings.
• Monitor fire protection systems and safety alerts.
• Ensure 100% legal and Coats H&S guideline compliance.
• Foster a safety culture among employees and contractors.
• Assess emergency preparedness and drive improvements.
• Ensure contractors adhere to Coats H&S standards.

Job description

Overall responsibility to ensure Health & Safety of operations. Responsible for ensuring compliance with legislative requirements and for providing assurance of compliance through audit and gap assessment. Set standards for meeting the operational skill of all personnel and manage assessments, gap analysis, and training requirements.

Principal Accountabilities & Key Activities

• Review and continuously update the Safety Standards for all the processes.
• Conduct shop floor Safety audits, Identify opportunities for improvement.
• Develop and auditing of SOP’s in manufacturing process to deliver consistent results to best safety standards.
• Preparation & Implementation of H&S trainings.
• Fire Protection - Periodic monitoring system.
• Ensuring 100% compliance towards Legal & Coats H&S guideline requirements
• Build the Safety culture to the employees
• Evaluate emergency preparedness level and improve the existing condition
• Ensure that all contractors are aware of and adhere to Coats Health H&S standards in their activities.

Activity Description:

• H&S Training & Support for Implementation.
• Analysis of incidents Investigation and its horizontal deployment.
• Coats H&S guideline & Legal requirements follow up.
• H&S requirements review with department managers, zone coordinators & Site managers in regular basis.
• Implementation and ensuring the safety system and make action plans to improve the conditions.
• Provide awareness, motivation, and supervision for contract jobs, with a focus on high-risk activities.
• Implementation & level up of 5S

Education, Qualifications and Experience

Basic Technical knowledge of:

• Qualification: Diploma in Safety (DIS) from Regional labor institutes or Local Government approved safety courses / M TECH / ME – Industrial Safety Engineering

Below are approved courses by TN Govt.

• Diploma in Industrial Safety from Regional Labour Institute / Central Labour Institute
• ME / MTech in Industrial Safety Engineering.
• Possess technical knowledge and experience in managing high-risk activities, including:
• Working at heights
• Confined space activities
• Chemical management
• Good Communication abilities.
• Proficiency in Tamil language is mandatory.
• Experience in similar area.
• Proficiency in MS Office.
• Minimum of five years of work experience
