Job summary

Ensono in Pune is seeking an experienced Mainframe Operations Technician to manage batch processing, console operations, and IPL activities across a 24x7 environment. You will work with MVS, VTAM, JCL, CICS, and IBM systems, supporting complex Sysplex setups and ensuring SLA adherence.

You will monitor jobs, handle Abend/recovery, provide second-level support, and coordinate with application teams. This role requires proactive communication, ITIL familiarity, and willingness to work rotating

Qualifications

• Minimum 3-5 years of experience in Mainframe Operations.
• Strong knowledge on Mainframe operations including Batch monitoring, Console operations, Ad hoc job scheduling and IPL activities.
• Extensive work on Scheduling OPC/TWS tool for Production/Batch Monitoring.
• Strong knowledge in Console Operations and complex Sysplex environments.
• Ability to provide 2nd level support for system and online monitoring, batch ABEND & recovery, and system restarts.
• Strong knowledge of MVS, VTAM, JCL, IPL, HMC concepts, TSO, JES2, CICS, TAPE, SDSF.
• Understand JCL structure and implement changes per instructions.
• Sound knowledge of ITIL processes (Problem/Incident/Change).
• Ready to work in 24x7 environments.

Responsibilities

• Check systems for outstanding messages and batch abends regularly.
• Scan batch output to identify root causes of failures.
• Push critical batch to meet SLAs.
• Follow documented customer procedures.
• Identify tasks or issues for improvement and escalate appropriately.
• Assess problem severity quickly and escalate.
• Run ClientBatch Schedules.
• Triage job errors and user issues.
• Monitor Batch/Systems/Alerts.
• Start/Stop subsystems (JES, IMS, DB2).
• Create/Manage Incident & Request tickets.
• Provide client reporting (Batch).
• Ad hoc job scheduling.
• Printing support and schedule restores.
• Break-fix support and app startup/shutdown.

Job Responsibility

Mandatory Skills

• Minimum 3- 5 years of experience in Mainframe Operations.
• Candidates should possess strong knowledge on Mainframe Operations; Batch monitoring, Console Operations, Ad hoc job Scheduling and IPL Activities.

To operate effectively as an operations Technician:
