Job summary

SoftwareOne is seeking a Senior SAM Consultant to own customer engagements across the entire SAM lifecycle, collaborating with IT, Procurement, Finance, and executives to identify savings and optimize licensing outcomes.

You will lead renewal planning, governance, and analytics, while mentoring consultants and driving measurable cost savings for enterprise software estates.

Qualifications

• Strong experience in Software Asset Management, software licensing, ITAM, or technology advisory roles, including ownership of customer-facing engagements.
• Deep understanding of software licensing and optimization across major publishers and SaaS/cloud licensing models.
• Experience supporting major software renewals, compliance assessments, optimization programs, and measurable cost-saving initiatives.
• Strong executive communication, presentation, consulting, and negotiation skills with senior stakeholders.
• Working knowledge of SAM platforms and analytical tools such as Excel or Power BI.

Responsibilities

• Leading end-to-end SAM engagements, including scoping, planning, ELP baselining, governance, quality, and commercial oversight.
• Developing renewal and licensing strategies across major software publishers and negotiating options.
• Identifying optimization opportunities through license right-sizing, re-harvesting, edition optimization, cloud and BYOL considerations.
• Assessing software portfolios to identify overlapping, under-used, or redundant applications and providing rationalization recommendations.
• Building trusted relationships with senior customer stakeholders and leading business reviews and strategic discussions.
• Mentoring consultants on SAM delivery best practices and supporting business growth through proposals and RFP responses.

• Deep understanding of software licensing and optimization, particularly across major publishers such as Microsoft and Oracle, alongside SaaS and cloud licensing models.
• Experience supporting major software renewals, compliance assessments, optimization programs, and measurable cost‑saving initiatives.
• Strong executive communication, presentation, consulting, and negotiation skills, with confidence engaging IT, Procurement, Finance, and senior decision‑makers.
• Working knowledge of SAM platforms such as ServiceNow SAM Pro, Flexera, or Snow, combined with strong analytical capabilities using tools such as Excel or Power BI.
• Commercial and consultative mindset with the ability to translate licensing and software estate data into clear business cases, recommendations, and customer outcomes.
