Job summary

Eaton in India is seeking an experienced Import Logistics professional to manage the complete import lifecycle from PO issuance through final delivery. You will coordinate with suppliers, freight forwarders, CHA, and internal teams to ensure on-time shipment execution and compliant documentation.

Ideal candidates have 8+ years in Import Logistics or International Supply Chain, a Bachelor’s degree in relevant fields, and hands-on experience with ERP/SAP, DGFT and customs processes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, logistics, commerce or business administration.
  • 8+ years of experience in Import Logistics / International Supply Chain

Responsibilities

  • End-to-End Import Management; manage complete import lifecycle from PO issuance to final delivery.
  • Coordinate with CHA, freight forwarders, and suppliers for timely shipments.
  • Plan and track Air/Sea shipments to meet deadlines.
  • Review and validate import documents (Commercial Invoice, Packing List, BL/AWB, CO) for compliance.
  • Liaise with CHA for clearance and ensure accurate Bill of Entry filings.
  • Negotiate freight rates and monitor landed costs to optimize expenses.
  • Track shipments and provide MIS reports on performance and costs.
  • Coordinate with procurement, finance and warehouse teams for smooth operations.

  • HS Code classification and duty structures
  • Handle import licenses and certifications if required
Customs Clearance Coordination
  • Liaise with CHA for timely clearance of shipments
  • Verify correctness of Bill of Entry filing
  • Ensure duty payments and avoid demurrage/detention
  • Resolve customs queries and audit requirements
Freight & Cost Optimization
  • Negotiate freight rates with forwarders and shipping lines
  • Monitor and reduce logistics costs (freight, duty, warehousing)
  • Analyze landed cost and identify cost-saving opportunities
Shipment Tracking & MIS Reporting
  • Track shipment status and proactively handle delays
  • Provide regular updates to internal stakeholders
  • Maintain MIS reports on:
  • Shipment performance
  • Freight costs
  • Delivery timelines
Vendor & Stakeholder Management
  • Manage relationships with:
  • Overseas suppliers
  • Freight forwarders
  • Customs brokers
  • Coordinate with internal departments: procurement, finance, warehouse
Risk & Issue Management
  • Identify operational bottlenecks and resolve import-related issues
  • Manage risks like shipment delays, documentation errors, compliance issues
  • Ensure cargo insurance coverage
Warehouse & Last-mile Coordination
  • Plan inbound movement from port to warehouse
  • Coordinate transporters for final delivery
  • Ensure proper goods receipt and inspection
Finance & Payment Coordination
  • Validate freight and CHA invoices
  • Ensure timely duty and statutory payments
Process Improvement & Digitization
  • Drive improvements in logistics processes and lead time reduction
  • Work on ERP/SAP systems for shipment tracking and reporting
  • Implement best practices in import operations
