Job summary

PROTEC, located in Rajkot, India, seeks an Assistant Manager Purchase to oversee end-to-end procurement activities supporting uninterrupted production. You will manage vendor relationships, negotiate terms, and ensure timely material availability for automotive components manufacturing.

The role requires 5–8 years in Purchase/Supply Chain within engineering or automotive sectors, BE/B.Tech or Diploma in Mechanical, and MBA preferred.

Qualifications

• BE/B.Tech (Mechanical/Production/Industrial) or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with relevant experience.
• MBA (Operations / Supply Chain) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Procure raw materials, consumables, engineering items, packing materials, and indirect materials.
• Coordinate with production planning to ensure uninterrupted material availability.
• Prepare and compare supplier quotations; negotiate prices and payment terms.
• Develop new vendors and manage supplier relationships; evaluate performance on QCD metrics.
• Prepare and release Purchase Orders; ensure timely delivery and resolve supplier issues.
• Identify cost reduction opportunities and negotiate ARCs; monitor market trends and material costs.
• Coordinate with PPC, Production, Stores, and Accounts to maintain optimum inventory.
• Maintain complete purchase records; support ISO/IATF documentation and audits.
• Provide daily/monthly MIS reports: purchase status, pending POs, supplier delivery performance, and cost savings.

Job Purpose

To ensure timely procurement of raw materials, consumables, engineering items, spare parts, and services at the optimum cost while maintaining the required quality and delivery schedule to support uninterrupted production.

Key Responsibilities

Procurement & Vendor Management

• Procure raw materials, consumables, engineering items, packing materials, and indirect materials.
• Ensure uninterrupted availability of materials as per production planning.
• Float RFQs, obtain quotations, compare prices, and prepare comparative statements.
• Negotiate prices, payment terms, delivery schedules, and commercial conditions.
• Develop new vendors and maintain relationships with existing suppliers.
• Conduct supplier performance evaluation based on Quality, Cost, Delivery (QCD), and Service.

Purchase Order Management

• Prepare and release Purchase Orders (POs).
• Follow up with suppliers for timely delivery.
• Track pending POs and expedite critical materials.
• Coordinate with stores for GRN and material receipt.
• Resolve supplier-related issues concerning shortages, quality, and delivery.

Cost Control

• Identify cost reduction opportunities through alternate sourcing and value engineering.
• Negotiate annual rate contracts (ARCs).
• Monitor market trends and raw material price fluctuations.
• Achieve annual purchase cost-saving targets.

Inventory Coordination

• Coordinate with PPC, Production, Stores, and Accounts.
• Maintain optimum inventory levels.
• Prevent stock-outs and excess inventory.
• Monitor slow-moving and non-moving inventory.

Documentation & Compliance

• Maintain complete purchase records and supplier documentation.
• Ensure compliance with company purchasing policies.
• Coordinate with Accounts for invoice verification and payment processing.
• Support ISO / IATF documentation and audits.

MIS & Reporting

• Daily purchase status report.
• Pending PO report.
• Supplier delivery performance report.
• Monthly cost-saving report.
• Vendor performance scorecard.
