The Assistant Manager Purchase is responsible for managing the procurement of construction materials, MEP materials, equipment, consumables, and subcontract services required for project execution. The role focuses on vendor management, commercial negotiations, cost optimization, timely procurement, inventory coordination, and ensuring uninterrupted availability of materials for project sites.
Key Responsibilities
Procurement & Vendor Management
- Manage end-to-end procurement activities for construction projects.
- Source and develop vendors, manufacturers, and suppliers for civil, finishing, MEP, and infrastructure materials.
- Obtain quotations, perform techno-commercial evaluations, and recommend suppliers.
- Negotiate pricing, payment terms, delivery schedules, and contract conditions.
- Maintain approved vendor database and supplier performance records.
Material Procurement
- Procure construction materials such as steel, cement, RMC, aggregates, blocks, tiles, sanitaryware, electrical and plumbing materials.
- Ensure timely procurement of project-specific materials and equipment.
- Coordinate with project teams for planning material requirements.
- Monitor delivery schedules and ensure timely dispatch to project sites.
Commercial & Cost Control
- Conduct comparative statement (CS) preparation and commercial analysis.
- Negotiate favorable rates and achieve procurement cost savings.
- Monitor market trends and price fluctuations.
- Support budgeting, estimation, and project cost control initiatives.
Purchase Order Management
- Prepare and issue Purchase Orders (POs) as per approved requisitions.
- Ensure compliance with company procurement policies and approval matrix.
- Track PO status and ensure timely closure.
- Handle amendments and revisions in purchase orders.
Inventory & Stores Coordination
- Coordinate with stores and project teams for inventory management.
- Monitor stock levels and prevent shortages or excess inventory.
- Review material consumption reports and stock reconciliation.
Vendor Payments & Documentation
- Coordinate with Accounts for vendor invoice verification and payment processing.
- Ensure timely submission of vendor bills, delivery challans, and GST-compliant invoices.
- Resolve vendor billing and payment-related issues.
Contract & Service Procurement
- Assist in finalization of service contracts and work orders.
- Support procurement of subcontractors, rental equipment, and project services.
- Ensure compliance with contractual terms and service delivery commitments.
MIS & Reporting
- Prepare monthly procurement reports and cost-saving reports.
- Maintain procurement trackers, vendor databases, and purchase records.
- Generate reports on pending orders, deliveries, and procurement performance.

Educational Qualification
- B.E./B.Tech in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering OR
- MBA / PGDM in Supply Chain Management, Operations, or Procurement OR
- Graduate with relevant construction procurement experience
Experience
- 10-12 years of experience in purchasing and procurement within the construction, real estate, infrastructure, or EPC industry.
- Experience in procurement of civil, MEP, finishing, and infrastructure materials is preferred.
- Exposure to multiple project procurement and vendor management is desirable.
