Job summary

SRI Ramasamy Memorial Holdings in Chennai is looking for a seasoned procurement leader to drive end-to-end procurement across construction projects, delivering on cost, quality, and schedule objectives.

You will plan and execute procurement of civil, MEP, HVAC, and related packages, negotiate contracts, manage vendors, and lead value engineering while ensuring compliance and timely delivery.

Qualifications

• 15-18 years of experience in construction procurement and contract management.
• Experience handling procurement for large institutional, commercial, residential, or infrastructure projects.
• Strong knowledge of construction materials and market trends.

Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end procurement function for all construction projects.
• Develop and implement procurement strategies to achieve cost, quality, and schedule objectives.
• Plan and execute procurement of civil, mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP), HVAC, fire protection, elevators, IT, security systems, and other project-related packages.
• Prepare procurement schedules aligned with project timelines.
• Identify, evaluate, pre-qualify, and develop vendors and subcontractors.
• Float tenders, evaluate techno-commercial bids, negotiate terms, and finalize contracts.
• Ensure timely procurement of materials and award of work packages without impacting project schedules.
• Monitor contract performance and resolve commercial issues during execution.
• Ensure compliance with company procurement policies and statutory requirements.

Role & responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end procurement function for all construction projects.
• Develop and implement procurement strategies to achieve cost, quality, and schedule objectives.
• Plan and execute procurement of civil, mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP), HVAC, fire protection, elevators, IT, security systems, and other project-related packages.
• Prepare procurement schedules aligned with project timelines.
• Identify, evaluate, pre-qualify, and develop vendors and subcontractors.
• Float tenders, evaluate techno-commercial bids, negotiate commercial terms, and finalize contracts.
• Ensure timely procurement of materials and award of work packages without impacting project schedules.

• Ensure compliance with company procurement policies, statutory requirements, and ethical business practices.
• Work closely with project, design, engineering, planning, finance, and site teams to meet project objectives.
• Drive value engineering and cost optimization initiatives without compromising quality.
• Maintain procurement MIS, contract documentation, and vendor performance records.

Desired profile

• Strong knowledge of construction materials, specifications, and market trends.
• Thorough understanding of civil construction materials including cement, steel, concrete, aggregates, finishes, waterproofing, doors, windows, glazing, flooring, roofing, and interior materials.

• Strong understanding of item-rate contracts, lump-sum contracts, turnkey contracts, rate agreements, and subcontract agreements.

• Proven track record of successfully leading procurement for multiple large-scale construction projects.
• Extensive network of suppliers, manufacturers, contractors, and subcontractors across construction disciplines.
• Ability to lead procurement teams and mentor junior professionals.
• Strong focus on timely delivery, cost control, quality assurance, and contract compliance.
• Willingness to travel to project locations as required.

Requirements

• Education: Civil Engineering graduate (B.E./B. Tech in Civil Engineering preferred)
• Experience: 15- 18 years of relevant experience in construction procurement and contract management
• Experience in handling procurement for large Institutional, commercial, residential, or infrastructure projects.
