Job summary

Apple Tree Building Maintenance is seeking a Quality Manager to lead a small QA/QC team and ensure quality across BMU manufacturing processes.

The role involves coordinating with production and design teams, creating inspection plans, and maintaining meticulous quality records. Strong welding and NDT knowledge, plus ISO 9001 audit experience, are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering; awareness of TQM and SQC methods.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of 1–2 Quality Engineers and 2–3 Inspectors, guiding QA/QC.
• Coordinate with Production and Design teams to perform quality checks at each manufacturing stage.
• Create Inspection and Test Plans for raw materials, bought-out parts, machined and fabricated components, and assemblies.
• Maintain inspection records, manage rejections and reworks, and strive to prevent defects.
• Define welding procedures and qualify welders; establish PQR/WPS and sampling methods.
• Ensure FAT testing records and compliance with ISO 9001 and support audits.

Job Scope

• Manage a team of 1 or 2 Quality Engineers and 2 to 3 Inspectors
• Guide his team technically in the Quality Assurance
• Interact with Production team and Design Team in performing quality checks at every stage of manufacturing
• Create Inspection and Test Plan for all manufacturing activities viz., Raw Material Inward, Bought-out parts inward, Subcontracted parts inward, Machined Parts, Fabricated parts, Assembly etc.,
• Keep Inspection Records of parts and Assemblies
• Control Rejection and Reworks, keep records
• Prevent rejection before inspection to reduce cost of manufacture.
• Define welding Procedures, involve in Qualifying Welders, Define PQR/WPS
• Define sampling methods for various batch quantities of production and execute accordingly
• Work with design team in defining right welding processes
• Evaluate all inspection records and show improvement in processes through Quality Assurance and Quality Control
• Suggest design revisions for continuous improvement of manufacturing processes resulting in reducing cost of manufacture
• Reduce Rejections
• Calibration of measuring instruments and maintaining periodic calibration records of all vital measuring instruments
• Follow Client requirements on Quality Assurance
• Test ALL Finished products according to the Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) Procedure in coordination with Design/ Production/ Installation and keep FAT records jointly signed

Qualification & Experience

• Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an internationally recognized institute
• Awareness in Total Quality Management (TQM) and Statistical Quality Control (SQC) Methods
• Related industry know-how and experience in Building Maintenance Units (BMUs), design, quality and performance will be an added advantage
• NDT Level I or II mandatory
• Minimum 3 to 6 years of Quality Management
• Shall know quality concepts related to manufacturing Processes

Process Improvement & Compliance:

• Monitor fabrication and welding processes to ensure compliance with quality standards and customer requirements.
• Identify defects, analyze root causes, and implement corrective & preventive actions (CAPA).
• Work on process optimization to reduce rework, rejection, and material waste.
• Assist in internal and external ISO 9001 audits and maintain documentation for compliance.

Supplier & Customer Interaction:

• Collaborate with vendors and suppliers to ensure the quality of incoming raw materials.
• Coordinate with customers for quality-related discussions, approvals, and resolving concerns.
• Prepare inspection reports, test certificates, and deviation reports.
• Essential Knowledge about:
• Quality Assurance of Machining and Fabrication assemblies

• GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
• Fabrication drawings and blueprints interpretation.
• Quality tools like 5S, Kaizen, 8D Problem Solving, FMEA, and SPC.

Documentation & Reporting:

• Formulate and Maintain Quality Control Plans (QCP), Quality Assurance and Quality Control
• Inspection & Test Plans (ITP).
• Ensure proper documentation of Non-Conformance Reports (NCR) and implement corrective measures.
• Maintain records of quality metrics and present reports to senior management.
