Job summary

University Living Accommodation in India is seeking an Assistant Manager Finance to manage MIS, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and month-end closure. The role requires strong Excel skills and proficiency in Zoho Books, with the ability to lead a small finance team.

You will prepare monthly and quarterly MIS reports, analyze variances, and provide insights to management. You will oversee balance sheet, P&L, cash flow, and statutory compliance, while driving improvements in processes

Qualifications

• MBA (Finance), M.Com or CA Inter.
• 5–7 years of relevant experience in accounting, MIS, and financial reporting.
• Hands-on experience in MIS preparation, balance sheet finalisation, budgeting, and forecasting.
• Advanced Excel skills including Pivot Tables, Lookups, Conditional Formulas, and financial models.

Responsibilities

• MIS & Reporting: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual MIS reports; analyse actual vs. budget vs. previous period; provide insights to management.
• Financial Reporting & Month-End Close: Prepare standalone and consolidated Balance Sheet, P&L, and Cash Flow; manage month-end closing and reconciliations.
• Budgeting & Forecasting: Coordinate annual budgeting; prepare rolling forecasts, cash flow projections and scenario analysis.
• Systems & Processes: Maintain accounting records in Zoho Books; identify process improvements; strengthen internal controls.
• Team Management: Supervise and mentor a small team of accountants/executives; allocate work and review output.
• Audit & Compliance: Coordinate statutory, internal, and tax audits; support GST, TDS, and other compliance.

Role & responsibilities

We are looking for an Assistant Manager Finance to manage MIS, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and month-end closure. The ideal candidate should be strong in Excel, Zoho Books, financial analysis, and comfortable managing a small team.

Key Responsibilities

MIS & Reporting

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual MIS reports.
• Build dashboards and analyse actual vs. budget vs. previous period.
• Provide financial insights and ad-hoc analysis to management.

Financial Reporting & Month-End Close

• Prepare standalone and consolidated Balance Sheet, P&L, and Cash Flow statements.
• Manage month-end/year-end closing, including provisions, accruals, depreciation, and closing entries.
• Review balance sheet schedules and bank, inter-company, vendor, and customer reconciliations.
• Ensure accuracy and compliance of financial records.

Budgeting & Forecasting

• Coordinate annual budgeting with department heads.
• Prepare rolling forecasts, cash flow projections, and scenario analysis.
• Track expenses against budgets and support cost-control initiatives.

Systems & Processes

• Maintain accounting records and reporting in Zoho Books.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation.
• Strengthen internal controls and finance SOPs.

Team Management

• Supervise and mentor a small team of accountants/executives.
• Allocate work, review output, and ensure timely and accurate deliverables.

Audit & Compliance

• Coordinate statutory, internal, and tax audits and resolve audit queries.
• Support GST, TDS, and other statutory compliance and filings.

Preferred candidate profile

Required Qualifications & Experience

• MBA (Finance), M.Com, or CA Inter.
• 57 years of relevant experience in accounting, MIS, and financial reporting.
• Hands-on experience in MIS preparation, balance sheet finalisation, budgeting, and forecasting.
• Advanced Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, Lookups, Conditional Formulas, reporting templates, and financial models.
• Working knowledge of Zoho Books or a similar accounting ERP.
• Experience managing and reviewing the work of a finance team.
• Good understanding of accounting standards and statutory requirements.

Preferred

• Experience with Zoho Analytics, Zoho Expense, Power BI, or similar reporting tools.
• Exposure to multi-entity or multi-location financial reporting.
