Job summary

Sarthee Consultancy is seeking an experienced EHS& S leader for their Pune operation. You will develop and drive the site’s Safety Management System aligned with ISO 45001, oversee occupational health programs, and ensure strict environmental and regulatory compliance for chemical manufacturing.

The role emphasizes training, audits, risk assessments, and continuous safety improvement. Ideal candidates will have 8-12 years in EHS&S, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within chemical/API

Qualifications

• 8-12 years of EHS&S experience, including at least 5 years in a leadership position within chemical/API manufacturing.
• Additional certifications in EHS, ESG, or sustainability are preferred

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain site-specific Safety Management Systems (SMS) in alignment with ISO 45001 and local regulations.
• Lead occupational health programs including medical surveillance and health risk assessments.
• Ensure environmental and regulatory compliance with waste management, emissions, and chemical handling requirements.
• Develop and deliver safety and health training programs for employees, contractors, and visitors.
• Identify and implement best practices and technologies to improve workplace safety and promote behavior-based safety.

Job description

Role & responsibilities

• 1. Safety Management:

  Develop, implement, and maintain site-specific Safety Management Systems (SMS)in alignment with ISO 45001 and local regulations.

  Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, chemical safety standards, andcorporate safety policies.

  Conduct comprehensive risk assessments, hazard identification, and Job Safety Analyses (JSA) for all manufacturing processes.

  Lead and participate in safety audits, inspections, and monitoring programs (both internal and external).

• 2. Occupational Health Management:

  Oversee effective occupational health programs, including medical surveillance,health risk assessments, and ergonomics initiatives.

  Monitor employee exposure to hazardous chemicals, dust, solvents, and noise,implementing controls such as Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), ventilation, and engineering safeguards

• 3. Environmental and Regulatory Compliance:

  Collaborate with the EHS/Environmental team to ensure compliance with environmental regulations (e.g., waste management, emissions, effluent treatment,chemical handling).

• 4. Training & Awareness:

  Develop and deliver comprehensive safety and health training programs for employees, contractors, and visitors.

• 5. Continuous Improvement:

  Identify and implement best practices, new technologies, and innovative safety solutions to mitigate risks and enhance workplace safety.

  Promote behavior-based safety initiatives and employee engagement programs.

Preferred candidate profile

8-12 years of EHS&S experience, including at least 5 years in a leadership position within chemical/API manufacturing.

Additional certifications in EHS, ESG, or sustainability are preferred
