Job summary

TVS Shreshta Infracon in Chennai is seeking an EHS Senior Engineer to lead hazard identification, risk assessments, and the development of safety protocols across all sites.

You will ensure regulatory compliance, investigate incidents, promote a safety culture, and provide training to internal teams and vendors at multiple sites. Strong leadership and communication skills are required, with NEBOSH/IOSH preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, environmental science, occupational health and safety or related field.
• 3–7 years of progressive EHS experience.
• NEBOSH/IOSH certifications preferred.

Job Summary

The EHS Senior Engineer takes a lead role in identifying hazards, developing safety protocols, and ensuring regulatory compliance across all sites. This position is responsible for conducting risk assessments, investigating accidents, promoting a culture of safety within the organization, and providing training to internal teams and vendors across all sites.

Role & responsibilities

• Identify hazards and develop comprehensive safety protocols to mitigate workplace risks.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable local, national, and international safety regulations across all sites.
• Conduct thorough risk assessments to evaluate workplace hazards and implement appropriate control measures.
• Investigate accidents and near-miss incidents to determine root causes and develop preventive measures to avoid recurrence.
• Promote and foster a culture of safety within the organization at all levels.
• Provide safety training to internal teams and to vendors across all sites, ensuring awareness of safe work practices and regulatory requirements.
• Lead development and updating of safety policies, procedures, and guidelines based on industry best practices.
• Lead safety inspections and audits across all facilities to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance.
• Monitor and track key safety performance metrics, analyze trends, and recommend improvements.
• Identify and recommend appropriate PPE for different job roles and tasks.
• Stay current with new safety regulations, standards, and industry developments.
• Coordinate emergency response and evacuation drills to maintain organizational readiness.
• Mentor and guide EHS Engineers in their professional development.
• Lead and contribute to safety committee meetings and cross-functional safety initiatives.

Preferred candidate profile

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, or related field.
• 3-7 years of progressive experience in EHS roles.
• In-depth knowledge of applicable safety regulations, standards, and compliance requirements.
• Strong leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and training delivery skills.
• Experience with multi-site safety management and vendor coordination.
• Relevant EHS certifications (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH) preferred.
