Job summary

Sarthee Consultancy is seeking an experienced EHS&S leader to oversee safety, health, and environmental programs across our chemical/API manufacturing operations in India. You will develop SMS aligned with ISO 45001, lead risk assessments, and drive a culture of safety.

The role requires 8–12 years of EHS&S experience with at least 5 years in leadership; additional certifications in EHS/ESG are preferred. You will mentor teams, conduct audits, and ensure regulatory compliance while promoting

Qualifications

• Additional certifications in EHS, ESG, or sustainability are preferred

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain site-specific Safety Management Systems (SMS) aligned with ISO 45001 and local regulations.
• Oversee effective occupational health programs, including medical surveillance, health risk assessments, and ergonomics initiatives.
• Collaborate with the EHS/Environmental team to ensure compliance with environmental regulations (e.g., waste management, emissions, effluent treatment, chemical handling).
• Develop and deliver comprehensive safety and health training programs for employees, contractors, and visitors.
• Identify and implement best practices, new technologies, and innovative safety solutions to mitigate risks and enhance workplace safety.

Role & responsibilities

• 1. Safety Management:

  Develop, implement, and maintain site-specific Safety Management Systems (SMS)in alignment with ISO 45001 and local regulations.

  Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, chemical safety standards, andcorporate safety policies.

  Conduct comprehensive risk assessments, hazard identification, and Job Safety Analyses (JSA) for all manufacturing processes.

  Lead and participate in safety audits, inspections, and monitoring programs (both internal and external).

• 2. Occupational Health Management:

  Oversee effective occupational health programs, including medical surveillance,health risk assessments, and ergonomics initiatives.

  Monitor employee exposure to hazardous chemicals, dust, solvents, and noise,implementing controls such as Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), ventilation, and engineering safeguards

• 3. Environmental and Regulatory Compliance:

  Collaborate with the EHS/Environmental team to ensure compliance with environmental regulations (e.g., waste management, emissions, effluent treatment,chemical handling).

• 4. Training & Awareness:

  Develop and deliver comprehensive safety and health training programs for employees, contractors, and visitors.

• 5. Continuous Improvement:

  Identify and implement best practices, new technologies, and innovative safety solutions to mitigate risks and enhance workplace safety.

  Promote behavior-based safety initiatives and employee engagement programs.

Preferred candidate profile

8-12 years of EHS&S experience, including at least 5 years in a leadership position within chemical/API manufacturing.
