Job summary

Envirocare Infrasolution Private Limited seeks an Assistant Manager to lead shift operations at the DRI plant in Kalunga, Rourkela. You will manage production, plan contract manpower, and coordinate with maintenance to minimize downtime.

The role requires a Diploma in Metallurgical/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering and at least 3 years in a steel plant as a shift-in-charge or similar leadership position. Strong safety, process, and cross-functional coordination skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Metallurgical/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience, preferably as a Shift In-Charge in a steel plant.

Responsibilities

• Manage shift operations of the DRI plant to ensure safe, efficient and uninterrupted sponge iron production.
• Plan and allocate contract manpower area-wise and coordinate with Maintenance to minimize downtime.
• Monitor process parameters, maintain logs, and ensure timely sample collection and parameter setting with CRO.
• Ensure safety compliance, 5S, toolbox talks, near-miss reporting, and EHS training for the team.
• Maintain IMS documentation and ensure compliance with ISO/IMS/SOP/HIRA protocols.

Employment Information : The position is with Envirocare Infrasolution Private Limited, a subsidiary of Shri Mahavir Ferro Alloys Private Limited. While Shri Mahavir Ferro Alloys Private Limited is the parent/group company, all recruitment, employment, payroll, and related HR processes for this role will be managed by Envirocare Infrasolution Private Limited.

Job Objective

Responsible for managing shift operations of the DRI plant to ensure safe, efficient and uninterrupted production of quality sponge iron while meeting production targets.

Key Responsibilities / KRA

Shift Operations

• Ensure daily sponge iron production as per quality and quantity targets.
• Plan and allocate contract manpower area-wise.
• Coordinate with Maintenance to minimize plant downtime.
• Monitor critical process parameters and ensure timely sample collection.
• Coordinate with CRO for setting and maintaining process parameters.
• Ensure stock house bunkers, vehicles and operational consumables are available as per production requirements.
• Ensure feed chute jams are cleared promptly to minimize feed loss.
• Maintain production logbooks and digitize production data for analysis.

Safety & Compliance

• Ensure zero safety incidents and Lost Time Injuries (LTI).
• Implement 5S and ensure safety compliance across DRI plant areas.
• Conduct toolbox talks and promote near-miss and safety observation reporting.
• Ensure 100% permit compliance for activities and train team members on EHS procedures.

IMS Compliance

• Maintain required IMS documentation and records.
• Ensure compliance with ISO, IMS, SOP, HIRA and Aspect-Impact protocols.

Key Performance Indicators (KPI)

• Daily manpower planning and zero production loss.
• Adherence to shift-wise production plan.
• Control of sponge iron quality rejections and quality parameters such as Fe(M).
• Control of specific water and power consumption per ton of product.
• Safety and legal compliance, including toolbox talks, near-miss reporting and work permits.
• IMS documentation and compliance with applicable standards and procedures.

Qualification & Experience

Qualification: Diploma in Metallurgical / Mechanical / Electrical Engineering.

Minimum 3 years of relevant experience, preferably as a Shift In-Charge in a steel plant.
