Job summary

River, a Bengaluru-based design company with a 1000+ team, seeks a casting specialist to lead die casting and investment casting development. You will assure design-for-castability, coordinate supplier qualifications, and drive PPAP readiness to ensure production quality.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of GD&T and NADCA standards.
• Experience with CQI-27 and quality core tools.
• Familiarity with APQP and PPAP processes.
• Proficient in CAD software and interpreting engineering drawings.
• Quality assurance mindset with strong analytical abilities.

Responsibilities

• Build-to-print parts, mainly aluminium die casting and investment casting components.
• Evaluate design against casting requirements to ensure production quality.
• Review and approve casting product and process requirements at supplier end (die design, casting simulation, gating).
• Evaluate supplier capabilities and feed inputs back into design.
• Develop manufacturing processes at supplier end and set up production lines as needed.
• Participate in supplier qualification for manufacturing processes.
• Conduct casting process audits at supplier end.
• Review DFM, DFA, and DFT aspects.
• Create process mapping, PFMEA, AOI, and AOT.
• Refine parts from first tooling to PPAP sign-off; plan PPAP audits.

Key Responsibilities

• Responsible for the build to print parts, mainly Die Casting of Aluminium alloys and Investment casting parts.
• Responsible for evaluating the product design in relation to Casting requirements(features, casting datum, etc) to ensure sound quality for production.
• Responsible for the review and approval of Casting product and process requirements at supplier end (Die design, Casting simulation, Gating system, etc).
• Evaluating supplier manufacturing capabilities and feeding the inputs back into the design.
• Development of manufacturing process at supplier end and set-up of the production line as per the requirement.
• Participate in supplier qualification in terms of manufacturing process capabilities.
• Responsible for the Casting process audits at supplier end.
• Responsible for review of DFM, DFA, and DFT aspects.
• Responsible to create Process mapping, PFMEA, AOI, AOT.
• Responsible for refining parts from the first tooling to PPAP sign off.
• Responsible for Planning and Coordination for PPAP Audit. Develop and implement a plan to resolve all open issues prior to handing over to Quality.

Ideal Candidate

• Overall 7 to 15 years of experience in Casting NPD.
• Proven experience in product development of aluminum alloy die casting in GDC, LPDC, HPDC, Investment casting (preferred).
• Exposure on Casting dies/Tools, fixtures, gauges, Inspection methods & processes.
• Exposure on designing the concepts for Machining fixtures, gauges for the casting products.
• Exposure on post processes as Heat treatment, Mechanical cleaning, Non destructive testing(DPI, RT, LT), Special processes (Plating, Powder coating, Painting, Anodizing, Electrocoat)
• Strong Knowledge of product development processes and methodologies.
• Strong Knowledge on GD&T, CQI-27, NADCA standards.
• Strong Knowledge on Quality core tools like APQP, PPAP, SPC, MSA, etc.
• Proficiency in using CAD software and other relevant engineering tools.
• Shall have strong analytical skills to identify quality issues and develop an action plan accordingly.
• Forward-planning and strategy.
• Good verbal and written communication skills in English.
