Job summary

Steel Strips Wheels is seeking an engineer to contribute to product and mold design across multiple domains including product design, mold design, process design, metallurgy, and NPD. The role involves RFQ studies, wheel design for FEA, plant drawing release, LPDC mold development, tool life estimation, and APQP/PPAP documentation.

Responsibilities cover design validation, tooling, and adherence to IATF16949 processes, with a focus on aluminum casting LPDC, GDC, and HPDC practices.

Qualifications

• Hands-on knowledge of 3D Solid & Surface modelling in UG/CATIA.
• Understanding of DFMEA/DFM/DFA processes.

Responsibilities

Job Responsibilities

Product Design

• RFQ study, technical Feasibility study, preparation of budgetary quote.
• Preparation of wheel design for FEA iterations, with basic knowledge of FEA.
• Plant related & Drawing release.
• Hands on experience with 3D Solid & Surface modelling in UG/CATIA.
• Knowledge and experience of DFMEA/DFM/DFA

Mold Design

• Design and development of New and repeat LPDC molds (import/local).
• FTG + mold corrections.
• New vendor development for Alloy wheel Molds (LPDC) within India.
• Responsible for Mold dimensions validation at Vendor & at Plant independently.
• Vendor(Tool room) development locally for Mold modifications & improvements.

Process Design

• Review product drawing & reference standards given along with RFQ for manufacturing feasibility on given tolerances, standard references.
• Selection of cutting tools needed and estimates tool life cycles/consumable needs.
• Design and Development of Jigs & Fixtures for CNC Machine & Inspection Gauge.

Metallurgy

• Analyze & identification of failure causes during development stage on rig level, vehicle validation at customer end, & field failures.
• Deep Understanding of Quality Management standards specifically ISO/IEC 17025, and ensuring compliance with quality management standards.
• Shall have in depth process knowledge of Aluminum casting processes LPDC, GDC, HPDC.

NPD

• Plan/execute APQP meetings for new product development.
• Program execution & delivery.
• Ensure that department procedure, new project documents are as per IATF16949 guidelines.
• Manage review meetings as per activities of Timing plan.
• APQP & PPAP Documentation.
