Job summary

Fichtner Consulting Engineers in Chennai, India, seeks an experienced HVAC and Fire Protection Systems design reviewer to lead technical assessments and guide project teams. You will validate HVAC layouts, perform load calculations, and ensure compliance with standards while coordinating with EPCs/designers.

The role requires attention to detail, strong reading of technical drawings, and effective communication with stakeholders.

Qualifications

• HVAC design calculations, layouts, and specifications examined against project requirements.

Role & responsibilities

Review & Validate:

• HVAC design calculations, layouts, and specifications prepared by EPCs / designers.
• Review Cooling & heating load calculations
• Equipment selection (chillers, VRF, AHUs, FCUs, ventilation systems)
• Duct sizing, air distribution, and pressure drop calculations

Technical Compliance:

HVAC - Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning

• Ensure compliance with ASHRAE standards
• Identify design gaps, constructability issues, and optimization opportunities
• Support HVAC system **commissioning review**, testing & balancing validation
• Review project requirements, specifications, and design concepts to ensure compliance.

FPS - Fire Protection System

• Review of FPS Design & Layout including Fire alarm & Detection system, Pump sizing and redundancy, Gas suppression systems
• Verify compliance with NBC, NFPA standards,
• Resolve technical queries, identify deviations, issues and non-conformance observations

Collaboration and Support:

• Work as Lead engineer, project manager, and guide other team members to resolve design issues and implement solutions.
• Provide technical information and ideas to support the engineering team.

Documentation and Record Keeping:

• Maintain accurate records of design changes and follow document control procedures.
• Prepare and assemble comprehensive documentation packages.

Quality Assurance:

• Check technical drafts for accuracy in calculations, measurements, and units.
• Perform quality checks on drawings for function, fit, and submission.
