Job summary

9E Global is seeking a Design Engineer with strong HVAC expertise to lead design across commercial, high-rise and data centre projects in Mumbai. You will perform load calculations, select suitable systems, size equipment, and ensure pressurization and smoke extraction designs meet local codes.

You will coordinate with architecture, structure, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection teams to ensure integrated design delivery through Concept to IFC stages, while reviewing BIM models and CAD

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering / building services engineering; Master’s degree/Chartered status is a plus.

Responsibilities

• HVAC design including load calculations and system selection (Chilled Water, VRF/DX, Packaged Systems).
• Equipment sizing and selection; pressurization and smoke extraction design per local codes.
• Deliver projects through Concept, Schematic, Detailed and IFC stages; ensure integrated design delivery.
• Coordinate with architectural, structural, electrical, plumbing, fire protection and others.
• Prepare markups and review HVAC drawings and BIM models in AutoCAD and Navisworks/ACC.
• Apply knowledge of ASHRAE, CIBSE, NFPA, Local Fire Code and Local Authority requirements.
• Maintain QA for the engineering team and ensure CAD/3D standards.

Job description

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering / building services engineering. Master’s Degree/Chartered Engineering status is a plus.
• Minimum 3-5 years' experience in engineering consultancy firms.
• Experience in Middle East projects will be highly preferred.
• Have a proven record as a Design Engineer on projects such as commercial, high-rise residential, mixed-use, hotels or data centre projects.
• Demonstrates strong technical expertise in HVAC engineering.
• Key Responsibilities:
• HVAC design, including load calculations, system selection (Chilled Water, VRF/DX, and Packaged Systems), equipment sizing and selection, pressurization systems, smoke extraction design in compliance with local fire codes, and energy-efficient design solutions.
• Delivery of projects through all design stages, including Concept Design, Schematic Design, Detailed Design, and IFC
• Coordination with Architectural, Structural, Electrical, Plumbing, Fire Protection, and other disciplines to ensure integrated design delivery.
• Prepare markups and review of HVAC drawings and BIM models using AutoCAD and Navisworks/ACC.
• Knowledge of design philosophy/design fundamentals and codes/guidelines such as ASHRAE, CIBSE, NFPA, Local Fire Code and Local Authority Requirements
• Demonstrates strong engineering analysis and problem-solving skills
• Technical Software skills: HAP, IES VE is a plus, Bluebeam, AutoCAD basics, Navisworks, ACC.
• Should be responsible for Quality Management (QA) for their team.
• Have knowledge of the company’s delivery in CAD standards and 3D working.

Project Role

• Able to represent the practice at project level.
• Demonstrate ability to take responsibility for projects.
• Ability to manage the design stages of a project.
• Ability to supervise a small team of engineers and technicians.
• Role will normally be as Design Engineer on projects of various sizes.
• Be responsible for delivering work to a fee agreed with a Project Manager.

• Assist the manager in resource planning and team allocation
• Coordinate project resources.
