Job summary

ePlane Company is seeking an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (Airframe/Structures) to support ground and flight testing of next‑gen eVTOL aircraft at our IIT Madras Discovery Campus facility. The role covers inspection, maintenance, and testing of composite airframe structures, avionics interfaces, and high‑voltage battery systems.

The ideal candidate holds AME/ Diploma in Mechanical or Aeronautical engineering with at least 3 years in aerospace maintenance, and familiarity with DGCA requirements

Qualifications

• AMe/ Diploma in Mechanical or Aeronautical engineering required.
• Minimum 3 years relevant experience in aircraft/ helicopter/ UAV/ eVTOL/ advanced aerospace systems maintenance.
• Knowledge of DGCA requirements is an added advantage.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, maintain, and repair composite airframe structures and mountings.
• Install and maintain motors and propellers.
• Document structural findings and corrective actions accurately.
• Maintain EWIS and high‑voltage battery systems and electric propulsion interfaces.
• Perform checks using approved test equipment.
• Install and maintain avionics: flight control, navigation, comms, sensors.
• Lead readiness activities for Ground Test Vehicles and prototypes.
• Assist in test setup and data cable management.

Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (Airframe/ Structures)

• The Aircraft Manufacturing Engineer/ Technician will play a crucial role in the maintenance for ground & flight testing of our Aircrafts within our state-of-the-art testing facility. We are looking for highly motivated and dedicated AME's to join our ground testing team as Aircraft Maintenance Engineer. The AME's will support the maintenance, inspection, installation, and testing of next-generation electric Vertical Take-Off and Landing (eVTOL) composite aircraft. The role provides hands‑on exposure to composite structures, electric propulsion systems, batteries, avionics, wiring, and ground test vehicle (GTV) operations, under the supervision of experts.

Required Qualifications:

• Education: AME/ Diploma in Mechanical or Aeronautical engineering
• Minimum 3 Years relevant experience in aircraft / Helicopter/ UAV / eVTOL/ advanced aerospace systems maintenance.
• Knowledge on DGCA requirements is an added advantage.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform inspection, maintenance, and repair of composite airframe structures & metallic mountings including carbon fiber laminates, bonded joints, and sandwich panels.
• Installation & maintenance of critical components like motors & propellers.
• Maintain accurate documentation of structural findings and corrective actions.
• Carry out installation, inspection, maintenance, and troubleshooting of high‑voltage battery systems and electric propulsion interfaces.
• Maintain and inspect electrical wiring interconnection systems (EWIS), including routing, bonding, grounding, clamping, and protection.
• Perform continuity, insulation resistance, and functional checks using approved test equipment.
• Install, inspect, and maintain avionics systems including:
• Flight control and actuation systems.
• Navigation, communication, and sensor systems.
• Integrated vehicle management and monitoring systems.
• Conduct system integration checks, functional tests, and troubleshooting activities.
• Support software loading, configuration verification, and system validation under approved procedures.
• Lead maintenance and readiness activities for Ground Test Vehicles (GTVs) and prototype aircrafts, including pre‑test, turn‑around test and post‑test inspections.
• Assist in test setup, instrumentation connections, data cable management, and test‑area readiness.
