Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Water Sector Lead to champion growth across Environment & Energy Europe, with a focus on the UK and Ireland in 2027. You will lead strategic client engagement, shape sector growth plans, and collaborate with regional teams to position AECOM as a partner of choice in water resources and related services.

The role requires strong BD leadership, industry visibility, and proven ability to secure major opportunities, while driving cross-disciplinary collaboration and governance

Qualifications

• Experience in leading business development and growth within the Water sector in a consultancy or professional services environment.
• Strong knowledge of Water sector dynamics, clients, emerging areas and key competitors.
• Proven ability to build and maintain high-value client relationships at senior levels.
• Strategic thinker with the ability to translate a vision into practical action plans.
• Seasoned capture manager with the ability to position for and secure key opportunities.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, presentation and negotiation skills.
• Experience in Water sector-related technical delivery.
• Established industry profile with the ability to act as a thought leader.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for the sector, setting priorities aligned to Europe business objectives with a 2027 UK/Ireland focus.
• Maintain knowledge of market drivers and respond to future sector needs from an Environment & Energy perspective.
• Represent AECOM at industry events and client forums to raise sector profile.
• Collaborate with regional leads to ensure sector representation in strategy, targets and pursuits.
• Lead development and implementation of sector growth plans and client engagement strategies.
• Build and maintain strategic client relationships to foster trust and repeat business.
• Drive wining strategy and resource allocation for strategic pursuits and act as Capture Manager.
• Achieve sector KPIs: bookings, revenue delivery, client satisfaction.
• Maintain a complete pipeline with actionable insights; report quarterly on performance.
• Foster cross-BL collaboration for multidisciplinary projects; support sector campaigns.
• Set tone and culture across Environment & Energy sectors; support project delivery with client leadership.
• Explore AI’s role in infrastructure delivery and client engagement.
