Job summary

AECOM is a global infrastructure firm seeking a Senior/Principal Water Scientist to support our Water Environment team in Ireland. The role spans water science, geomorphology, hydrology, aquatic ecology and hydrogeology across major projects with public and private clients.

You will lead multidisciplinary teams, manage bids, and deliver water environment assessments, masterplanning and support for Environmental Statements. Hybrid work options and a collaborative culture are highlighted.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience undertaking Water Environment Impact and WFD/WER assessments.
• Experience across a range of different infrastructure types, planning regimes (notably in Ireland but the UK would be beneficial), and project stages (feasibility/concept, planning, detail design, construction, post-construction).
• Be a technical specialist in a particular field (e.g. water science, water quality, hydrology, hydromorphology).
• Be able to write proposals and develop the scope for relevant surveys, monitoring and assessments etc.
• Experience of managing multidisciplinary teams consisting of water scientists, hydrogeologists, geomorphologists, hydrologists and aquatic ecologists and liaising closely with designers and other environmental specialists in a collaborative way.

Responsibilities

• Support the preparation of high quality bids and tenders for water science services.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams ensuring resources, budgets and controls meet programmes and budgets.
• Plan and implement complex monitoring and field work as required.
• Support delivery of high-quality water science consultancy and advisory services.
• Develop robust, pragmatic solutions to complex water science issues.
• Engage with statutory stakeholders to agree scopes of work and mitigation.
• Support production of Water Environment Impact Assessments and related reports.
• Author project deliverables to ensure high quality outputs.
