Job summary

Apleona Ireland is recruiting a Waste Operative for our facility in Limerick City. The role covers night shifts Monday to Thursday (10pm-7am) and Friday (10pm-6am). You will service waste collection points, operate waste compactors, and handle ADR/IMDG paperwork for hazardous waste movements.

Key tasks include loading with a forklift, baling recyclable streams, and liaising with waste vendors. Valid forklift licence and strong health and safety awareness are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in Environmental or Waste management is desirable but not essential.
• Valid Forklift licence is required
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Understand safe working practices and health and safety legislation
• Well-organised and capable of prioritising own work
• Manual handling
• Previous experience in a similar role is advantageous

Responsibilities

• Service hazardous and non-hazardous waste collection points throughout the client site
• Empty Non-hazardous bins
• Fill and use the general waste compactor
• Fill and use the Dry Mixed Recyclable Compactor; baling cardboard, plastic and paper waste streams
• Load curtainsiders and containers using a forklift
• Complete ADR/IMDG paperwork for shipments of hazardous waste off-site
• Decant hazardous waste streams on site
• Complete all relevant paperwork for non-hazardous waste
• Other paperwork and admin duties
• Liaise with waste management vendors
• Salting the car park during winter months

Main duties and responsibilities

• To service hazardous and non-hazardous waste collection points throughout the client site
• Empty Non-hazardous bins
• Filling and use of the general waste compactor
• Filling and use of the Dry Mixed Recyclable Compactor Baling of cardboard, plastic, and paper waste streams
• Loading of curtainsiders and containers by use of a forklift
• Completion of all ADR/IMDG paperwork for shipments of hazardous waste off-site
• Decanting of hazardous waste streams on site
• Completion of all relevant paperwork with regard to non-hazardous waste
