Job summary

Apleona UK in Waterford is seeking a Waste Operative to join our team. Based in Waterford, you will work Monday to Friday, 14:30-23:00, 40 hours per week, focusing on hazardous and non-hazardous waste management on site.

You will service waste collection points, empty bins, operate compactors and balers, manage ADR/IMDG paperwork, and liaise with waste management vendors. Forklift training is an advantage; a good health and safety ethos is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in Environmental or Waste management desirable but not essential.
• Ability to demonstrate awareness of Health and Safety good practice in relation to cleaning procedures.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Understand safe working practices and health and safety legislation.
• Ability to work on their own, well-organised and capable of prioritising own work.
• Flexible, Honest and reliable.
• Excellent Work Record.
• Forklift training a distinct advantage.

Responsibilities

• Service hazardous and non-hazardous waste collection points on site.
• Empty Non-hazardous bins and Hazardous waste bins.
• Fill and operate the general waste compactor and the Dry Mixed Recyclable Compactor.
• Bale cardboard, plastic, and paper waste streams.
• Load curtainsiders and containers by use of Forklift.
• Complete ADR/IMDG paperwork for shipments of hazardous waste off site.
• Decant hazardous waste streams on site.
• Complete relevant paperwork for non-hazardous waste.
• Liaise with waste management vendors.
• Salting of the car park in winter months.
• Ad hoc duties as required by the line manager.
