Job summary

Apleona is seeking a Full-time Waste Operative for our site in Carrigtwohill, Co Cork. The role involves servicing hazardous and non-hazardous waste points across the client site and managing recycling streams.

Working pattern: Monday to Thursday 08:00-16:30, Friday 08:00-15:30. Forklift use and compliance with health and safety standards are essential, as is reliable attendance and clear communication with vendors and colleagues.

Qualifications

• Experience in Environmental or Waste management is desirable but not essential.
• Understand safe working practices and health and safety legislation.
• Well-organised and capable of prioritising own work.
• Flexible, honest and reliable.
• Previous experience in a similar role is advantageous.
• Forklift training is a distinct advantage.

Responsibilities

• To service hazardous and non-hazardous waste collection points throughout the client site.
• Empty non-hazardous bins and use the general waste compactor.
• Filling and use of the Dry Mixed Recyclable Compactor; baling of cardboard, plastic and paper waste streams.
• Loading of curtainsiders and containers by use of a forklift.
• Completion of all ADR/IMDG paperwork for shipments of hazardous waste off-site.
• Decanting of hazardous waste streams on site.
• Completion of all relevant paperwork with regard to non-hazardous waste.
• Other paperwork and admin duties.
• Liaise with waste management vendors.
• Salting of the car park over the winter months.
