Job summary

CPL Group in Cork is seeking Social Care Workers to join a new Tusla service delivering a trauma-informed model of care for young people aged 13 to 17. The role emphasizes building positive attachments and creating a therapeutic environment through strong engagement and rapport.

You will work as part of a team to provide holistic care, manage household activities, administration, teamwork, health and safety, and contribute to care planning and liaison with families and agencies.

Qualifications

• Be registered in the Social Care Workers Register maintained by CORU or
• Hold a CORU approved Social Care Worker qualification and have applied for CORU registration (evidence of application will be necessary)
• Be eligible for registration in the Social Care Workers Register maintained by CORU (evidence of application will be necessary)
• Have the requisite knowledge and ability (including a high standard of suitability and ability) for proper discharge of the duties of office.

Responsibilities

• Participate in development and implementation of Care and Placement Plans and ensure appropriate recording.
• Promote rights and responsibilities of each child/young person within the Service.
• Promote physical, emotional, social and religious welfare of each young person in care.
• Encourage attendance at school, training centres, medical and clinical appointments.
• Organise personal documents, arrangements, information, and finances for the young person.
• Liaise with parent, family, general services, and other agencies on behalf of the young person.
• Attend meetings related to care and developments of the young person.
• Engage in age-appropriate play and activities with each child/young person.
• Engage in physical intervention where this is in keeping with local policies and procedures.
• Promote participation of children and young people in decision making.
• Prepare and provide well balanced meals with young people.
• Undertake home management tasks including household budget and cleaning.
• Attend team meetings and report to Social Care Leader/Manager on progress.
• Make written/verbal reports on progress of development of the young person.
• Ensure Child protection procedures are followed in line with designated officer responsibilities.
• Keep abreast of current legislation and professional childcare knowledge.
• Undertake ongoing professional training and development.
• Comply with policies, procedures, guidelines and safe professional practice.
