Job summary

CPL Group is seeking a Social Care Worker to join a new trauma-informed service in County Cork, caring for young people aged 13–17. The role focuses on building positive attachments, relationship-based care, and a therapeutic environment.

You will work as part of a team to deliver holistic care, manage household duties, participate in professional development, and adhere to health and safety standards. CORU registration or an application is required.

Qualifications

• Be registered in the Social Care Workers Register maintained by CORU.
• Evidence of CORU registration or application is required.
• Relevant professional childcare knowledge and high standard of suitability for duties.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the development and implementation of Care and Placement Plans and ensure appropriate recording.
• Promote the rights and responsibilities of each child/young person within the service.
• Promote welfare (physical, emotional, social and religious) of each young person in care.
• Encourage attendance at school, training centres, medical and clinical appointments.
• Organise personal documents, arrangements, information and finances on behalf of the young person.
• Liaise with parents, family, general services and other agencies.
• Attend meetings relating to care and developments of the young person.
• Engage in age-appropriate play and activities with each child/young person.
• Engage in physical intervention where in keeping with local policies.
• Promote participation of children/young people in decision making.
• Prepare balanced meals with the young people.
• Contribute to home management including budget, upkeep and cleaning.
• Attend team meetings and report to Social Care Leader/Manager.
• Make written and verbal reports on progress.
• Ensure HIQA and current legislation knowledge is maintained.
