Qualifications

• Essential: Management experience within a large-format / big-box grocery retailer
• Strong experience managing high-volume supermarket operations and sizeable teams
• Strong commercial understanding with experience managing retail KPIs

Responsibilities

• Support the Store Manager with the overall day-to-day management and commercial performance of a high-volume supermarket
• Lead and develop large teams across grocery, fresh food, checkouts and other key departments
• Take full responsibility for the store in the Store Manager's absence
• Drive sales, productivity, availability and operational standards
• Monitor key KPIs including sales, labour, waste, margin, stock loss and customer service
• Manage staffing levels, rotas, holidays and labour costs in line with business requirements
• Ensure excellent execution of merchandising, promotional activity and seasonal changeovers
• Maintain strong stock availability while controlling inventory and stock loss
• Coach and develop department managers, team leaders and colleagues
• Support recruitment, onboarding, performance management and succession planning
• Ensure full compliance with food safety, HACCP, health & safety and company procedures
• Identify opportunities to improve store performance, efficiency and the overall customer experience

Excel Recruitment is seeking an experienced Supermarket Assistant Manager to join a large, high-volume grocery retail operation on an initial 12-month fixed-term contract.

This is an excellent opportunity to join an established retail group, with strong potential for the successful candidate to extend their career within the wider business beyond the initial contract.

We are specifically seeking candidates who have developed their management experience within a large-format, big-box grocery or supermarket environment and are comfortable managing significant teams, high sales volumes and demanding operational KPIs.
