Job summary

Excel Recruitment is seeking an experienced Deli Manager to take ownership of a busy fresh food and deli department within a successful supermarket in Cork. The role focuses on leading the deli team, driving sales and profitability, and maintaining high standards of food safety.

The ideal candidate will have previous deli management experience, strong HACCP knowledge, and a proven ability to develop staff and improve operational performance in a high-volume environment.

Qualifications

• Experience as Deli Manager or similar in a busy retail environment.
• Strong knowledge of HACCP and food safety standards.
• Proven ability to lead and develop a team and manage rosters.

Responsibilities

• Take full responsibility for day-to-day deli and fresh food dept.
• Lead, motivate and develop the deli team.
• Manage staff rotas, labour costs and holidays.
• Drive sales, margin and profitability across the department.
• Monitor KPIs including sales, waste, margin, labour and stock.
• Ensure HACCP, food safety and health & safety compliance.
• Support recruitment, onboarding and training of deli staff.
• Deliver excellent customer service and strong product presentation.

Deli Manager – Supermarket Cork

Excel Recruitment is seeking an experienced and passionate Deli Manager to take ownership of a busy fresh food and deli department within a successful supermarket in Cork.

This is an excellent opportunity for a strong fresh food professional who enjoys leading from the front, developing a team and driving the commercial performance of a high-volume deli operation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Take full responsibility for the day-to-day management of the deli and fresh food department
• Lead, motivate and develop the deli team, ensuring consistently high standards
• Manage staff rotas, labour costs, holidays and daily task allocation
• Drive sales, margin and profitability across the department
• Monitor key KPIs including sales, waste, margin, labour and stock levels
• Manage ordering, stock control, availability and rotation
• Reduce waste while maintaining strong availability and an attractive fresh food offering
• Ensure excellent standards of food presentation, merchandising and counter displays
• Maintain full compliance with HACCP, food safety and health & safety regulations
• Ensure all food preparation, storage and service procedures meet the highest standards
• Support recruitment, onboarding, training and development of deli employees
• Identify opportunities to grow sales and continuously improve the department
• Deliver excellent customer service and build a strong reputation for the fresh food offering

The Ideal Candidate:

• Previous experience as a Deli Manager, Fresh Food Manager, or similar
• Strong knowledge of fresh food operations and HACCP
• Proven experience managing and developing a team
• Commercially focused with a strong understanding of sales, margin, waste and labour
• Excellent organisational and communication skills
• Ability to work effectively in a busy supermarket environment
• Passion for food, presentation and delivering excellent customer service
