Excel Recruitment is currently seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Produce Manager to join a busy, high-performing supermarket in Cork.

This is an excellent opportunity for a strong fresh food or produce professional who takes pride in quality, presentation and availability and enjoys leading a team in a fast-paced supermarket environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Take full responsibility for the day-to-day management of the Fruit & Vegetable / Produce Department
• Lead, motivate and develop the produce team, ensuring clear delegation and strong productivity
• Maintain exceptional standards across freshness, quality, availability and presentation
• Drive department sales, margin and profitability while achieving agreed KPIs
• Manage ordering and stock levels to ensure strong availability while minimising overstock
• Monitor and control waste, shrinkage and stock losses
• Ensure excellent stock rotation and freshness standards are maintained at all times
• Create attractive, commercially focused displays and ensure promotional activity is executed effectively
• Plan seasonal ranges and displays around key trading periods
• Monitor sales performance and identify opportunities to grow the department
• Manage staff rotas, daily workloads, training and performance
• Work closely with the Store Manager and wider management team to achieve overall store targets
• Maintain excellent hygiene, food safety and health & safety standards
• Deliver consistently high levels of customer service

The Ideal Candidate:

• Previous experience as a Produce Manager, Fruit & Veg Manager, Fresh Food Manager, Department Manager or senior supermarket supervisor
• Strong knowledge of fresh produce, stock rotation and quality standards
• Previous experience leading and developing a retail team
• Commercially focused with a good understanding of sales, margin, waste and labour control
• Strong merchandising skills with a passion for fresh food presentation
• Excellent organisational and communication skills
• Hands-on management style and comfortable working in a busy supermarket environment
• Ambitious and keen to progress within grocery retail management
