Job summary

Qualifications

• Experience as Assistant Manager or in similar roles within convenience or grocery retail.
• Strong people-management and communication skills.
• Commercial awareness with understanding of retail KPIs.

Responsibilities

• Support the Store Manager with day-to-day running of the store.
• Lead, motivate and develop the team to deliver excellent customer service.
• Take full responsibility for the store in the Store Manager's absence.
• Manage staff deployment, rotas, breaks and daily task allocation.
• Monitor sales, labour, waste, margins and other key store KPIs.
• Ensure excellent standards across merchandising, availability and store presentation.
• Oversee stock ordering, deliveries, replenishment and stock control.
• Support the management of fresh food and deli operations.
• Ensure HACCP, food safety and health & safety compliance.
• Assist with recruitment, onboarding, training and performance management.
• Identify opportunities to improve sales, operational efficiency and the customer experience.
• Support promotional activity and ensure strong execution of company standards.

Excel Recruitment is seeking an experienced and motivated Assistant Manager to join a busy and successful convenience store in Bray, Co. Wicklow.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on retail manager looking to take the next step in their career within a fast-paced convenience environment. Working closely with the Store Manager, you will play a key role in driving store performance, developing the team and maintaining excellent standards across the business.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support the Store Manager with the day-to-day running of the store

The Ideal Candidate:

• Previous experience as an Assistant Manager, Duty Manager, Trainee Manager or experienced Supervisor within convenience or grocery retail
• Strong people-management and communication skills
• Commercially aware with a good understanding of retail KPIs
• Comfortable working across grocery, fresh food and front-end operations
• Hands-on, energetic and capable of leading from the shop floor
• Ambitious and keen to progress within retail management
