Job summary

Twilio in Ireland is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join the Voice Connectivity Trust team. You will participate in all phases of the software development life cycle, own and maintain services in a distributed production environment, and work with Product Managers and AI-assisted coding tools.

You will design real-time services with high throughput, collaborate with stakeholders, and help scale a global platform while ensuring reliability and media fidelity.

Qualifications

• Experience with large-scale distributed applications on JVM-based technologies.
• Strong CS fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, OS, distributed systems.
• Experience building RESTful services and event-driven architectures (Kafka, SQS).
• Hands-on cloud experience (AWS, GCP, OpenStack, or Azure).
• Proven ability to design and optimize CI/CD pipelines and operator-friendly services.
• Comfort with AI-assisted coding workflows and continuing education in AI prompts.

Responsibilities

• Own and operate real-time services with high throughput and low latency.
• Collaborate with product managers and stakeholders to meet customer needs.
• Design and document scalable, robust software for a distributed platform.
• Mentor team members and drive architectural decisions.
• Work with AI coding assistants to deliver value efficiently and securely.
