Job summary

Twilio is seeking a Staff Site Reliability Engineer to join our Platform Engineering team. You will own the reliability posture of significant parts of our production estate, writing code to improve service resilience, leading multi‑team initiatives, and guiding incident responses with strong automation and post‑mortem discipline.

You will work in a remote‑first environment based in Ireland, collaborating across programs to ensure scalable, observable, and maintainable systems while shaping

Qualifications

• 8+ years of related engineering experience focusing on reliability, infrastructure, or platform engineering.
• Proven accountability for production systems and on-call ownership.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals: deliver production code, not only tooling.
• Experience defining and operating against SLIs/SLOs and using error budgets.

Responsibilities

• Own the reliability posture of production services, including availability, latency, capacity, and performance.
• Define and instrument SLIs/SLOs; use error budgets to drive priorities.
• Identify trends threatening stability and mitigate risks before customer impact.
• Lead on-call and incident response; drive post-mortems and follow-up work.
• Improve detection, response, and recovery; reduce time to acknowledge and recover.
• Design for failure; validate recovery paths and safe production changes.
• Participate in on-call for supported services and lead the response when degraded.
• Document design decisions, migration plans, and upgrades for complex changes.
• Write, deploy, and review code that measurably improves service reliability.
