Job summary

Twilio is hiring a Staff Software Engineer to join the Voice Connectivity Trust team and own services in a distributed production environment. You will contribute across the software lifecycle, collaborate with product managers and cross‑functional teams, and use agile practices to deliver value.

Qualifications

• Minimum 8 years of hands-on experience with large-scale distributed applications on JVM-based technologies.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related engineering field.
• Strong CS fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, operating systems, and distributed systems.
• Experience building RESTful services and event-driven architectures (Kafka, SQS).
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines design and optimization.
• Experience with on-call rotations, incident response, monitoring/alerting tools (Prometheus, Datadog, Grafana).
• Hands-on with cloud infrastructures such as AWS, GCP, OpenStack or Azure.
• Excellent written communication for technical documentation and AI prompts.
• Proven ability to evaluate AI-generated code for correctness, security, performance, and maintainability.
• Hands-on Java experience with architectural review and debugging, including AI-assisted code.
• Experience scaling data tiers with SQL/NoSQL and caching technologies.
• Proven ability to design and develop horizontally scalable, resilient systems under load.
• Strong teamwork and collaborative mindset; capable of technical leadership and mentoring.
