Job summary

Jobgether, on behalf of a partner, is seeking a Staff Software Engineer – Platform based in Ireland. You will own the end-to-end platform architecture for a large-scale, event-driven streaming platform powering real-time financial services.

You will lead design and implementation in Go and Redpanda, shape security and authentication strategies, mentor engineers, and drive cross-team architectural alignment in a globally distributed environment.

Qualifications

• At least 8 years of professional software engineering experience, including several years operating systems at significant scale.
• Strong production-level expertise in Kafka or Redpanda, including partitioning, consumer groups, rebalancing, retention policies, delivery guarantees, and performance under load.
• Experience delivering real-time data to clients at scale using WebSockets, SSE, or gRPC streaming, with a solid understanding of fan-out, backpressure, and slow-consumer management.
• Proficiency in Go, or deep experience with another strongly typed programming language and the ability to become productive in Go quickly.
• Experience building or maintaining shared libraries across teams, with API stability, backward compatibility, versioning, and deprecation.
• Solid experience with PostgreSQL concepts and usage.

Responsibilities

• Own platform architecture and technical strategy for the event streaming platform and two-to-three-year roadmap.
• Lead transition from batch-based processing to event-driven architectures across the organization.
• Establish engineering standards for schema evolution, topic ownership, event replay, idempotency, backward compatibility, versioning, and deprecation.
• Design and optimize streaming infrastructure to support high-volume client connections and delivery guarantees.
• Mentor senior engineers and drive architectural alignment across teams.
