Job summary

Whatnot is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join the Financial Platform team. You’ll work on scalable systems that handle millions of users and transactions, collaborating with cross-functional partners to enhance payments, taxes, and international commerce.

You will lead architectural decisions, own critical components, mentor peers, and contribute to a fast, high-impact engineering culture across global hubs including Dublin. Comfortable with hybrid/work-from-home options is expected.

Qualifications

• Eight years+ software development experience building scalable systems.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with partner teams, Payments - Experience, and leadership to improve payment scale and transaction modelling.
• Design and own parts of the technical roadmap for the team.
• Mentor engineers and drive cross-team initiatives.
• Own projects from inception to production and maintenance.
• Communicate trade-offs and ensure high-quality, iterative feature delivery.
