Job summary

Grafana Labs is recruiting for a Staff-level Backend Engineer to build the AI-native data context layer for a scalable SaaS platform. You will own core backend architecture for context ingestion, storage, and retrieval APIs, with a strong emphasis on multi-tenant design and reliability.

You will work across product and infrastructure, ship production-grade services, and contribute to technical direction while leveraging AWS/GCP/Azure, Looker/Tableau/PowerBI, and observability tools to ensure

Qualifications

Experience building production-grade software systems that are user-facing and scalable.
Hands-on experience with AI technologies and practical GenAI solutions.
Ability to iterate quickly, release prototypes, and incorporate feedback.
Proven initiative and ownership, with comfort solving ambiguous problems.
Strong collaboration and communication across cross-functional teams.
Familiarity with cloud-native environments (AWS, GCP, Azure).
Experience using observability tools to monitor and troubleshoot systems.

Responsibilities

Build the first production services for context ingestion, indexing, and retrieval APIs.
Define multi-tenant SaaS architecture including isolation, usage tracking, and audit logs.
Develop APIs for agent-facing workflows to retrieve context, provenance, and signals.
Collaborate with product and infra teams to balance fast experiments with long-term reliability.
Instrument services with metrics, logs, traces, and dashboards; improve system reliability.
Contribute to architectural direction, storage choices, and deployment patterns.
Communicate effectively in a dynamic, cross-team environment.
Own AI solutions to be scalable and maintain real user value.
