Job summary

Down Syndrome Ireland is seeking Speech and Language Therapists to join their expanding team of professionals. You will manage a caseload and coordinate and deliver SLT services across branches in Ireland, including collaboration with pre-schools, schools and adult training centres.

The role offers a mix of direct and indirect therapy, with opportunities to work across the lifespan from birth to adulthood and to gain experience with AAC, Lamh, and other communication approaches, under

Qualifications

• Recognised qualification in Speech and Language Therapy.
• Current CORU registration.
• Current IASLT membership.
• A minimum of one year’s experience working as a Speech & Language Therapist.
• Desirable: experience with Down syndrome and/or autism spectrum disorders.
• Desirable: experience with Lamh and other AAC approaches.
• Desirable: Telehealth experience.
• Desirable: Hanen programs and DIR Floortime.
• Desirable: own transport and full clean driving licence.

• Be responsible for assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation of intervention programmes.
• Deliver a range of therapeutic models appropriate to the client population.
• Generate and manage documentation in respect of assessments, diagnoses, intervention plans, and clinical notes.
• Be innovative in the use of resources to maintain and enhance service delivery standards.
• Work collaboratively with families, schools and other service providers.
• Maintain standards of service delivery in line with policy, CORU guidelines and relevant legislation.

Job description

Down Syndrome Ireland is seeking Speech and Language Therapists to join their expanding team of professionals.

The successful candidates will hold a caseload and will be responsible for the co-ordination and some delivery of the Speech & Language Therapy service, alongside a team of Senior Speech & Language Therapists, for the following branches of Down Syndrome Ireland: Tipperary, Carlow, Wexford, Cavan/Monaghan, Longford/Westmeath.

A mixture of direct and indirect therapy will be required. The successful candidates will gain experience working with all age groups, from birth to adulthood. Linking in with pre-schools, schools and adult training centres will be essential.

A panel may be formed and further vaccancies filled as arise.

Our talented and passionate therapists provide a wide range of support including:

• Attention and Listening Skills
• Introducing and using AAC systems including manual sign (Lamh), paper based and high tech approaches
• Speech sound approaches- articulation, phonological, motor speech, prosody and rate
• Language work approaches - vocabulary, grammar, sentence building, narrative, questions, social language and literacy
• Fluency work / Stuttering

Qualifications & Experience

Essential

• Recognised qualification in Speech and Language Therapy
• Current CORU registration
• Current IASLT membership
• A minimum of one years' experience working as a Speech & Language Therapist

Desirable

• Experience of assessment and therapy for children and adults with Down syndrome and/or people with autism spectrum disorder is an advantage
• Experience of Lamh and other Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC)
• Telehealth
• Hanen It Takes Two to Talk and More than WordsDIR Floortime
• Own transport and full clean driving licence.
