Speech and Language Therapist

The Speech and Language Therapist (SLT) will work as part of a multidisciplinary Children’s Disability Network Team (CDNT) to provide comprehensive assessment and intervention services to children and young people (0-18 years) with complex needs arising from disabilities. The SLT will contribute to family‑centred practice, supporting the child’s functional communication, feeding, and overall development. This is a role based in Tipperary and I would discuss with an experienced Staff or Senior.

Responsibilities of Speech and Language Therapist

• Provide assessment, diagnosis, and intervention for children with speech, language, and communication needs, as well as feeding and swallowing difficulties.
• Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, which may include Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Psychologists, Social Workers, and other Health and Educational professionals.
• Deliver services in family‑centred models, using evidence‑informed and best practices.
• Develop and implement individualised intervention plans, involving parents/carers and relevant community supports.
• Participate in team meetings, case discussions, and service planning.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential reports and clinical records.
• Provide education, support, and training to parents, carers, and other professionals as required.
• Engage in ongoing professional development and reflective practice.
• Contribute to service development initiatives, audits, and quality improvement projects.

Requirements of Speech and Language Therapist

• Recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy.
• CORU registration as a Speech and Language Therapist (or eligible for same).
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Full drivers’ licence and access to transport (for community‑based work).
