Galetech Contracts Ltd is a construction and civil engineering contractor based in County Cavan and part of the Galetech Group. The company delivers housing schemes, commercial and education buildings, modular buildings, civil works, building fit‑out, rooftop solar installations and specialist plant hire, with projects located predominantly across regional Ireland.
The business has a substantial and growing project pipeline, including a significant volume of residential development, and is expanding its site management capability accordingly.
The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Site Manager to take responsibility for the day‑to‑day delivery of construction works across a number of concurrent projects. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the successful candidate will manage site activity week to week, maintain programme, and act as the company's principal point of contact on site for clients, subcontractors and suppliers.
This is a predominantly site‑based position. The role involves regular travel between live projects and will suit a candidate who is at their most effective working directly with site teams rather than from an office. Applicants seeking an office‑based, design or consultancy position are unlikely to find this role a good fit.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and coordinate site activity across concurrent projects, ensuring labour and resources are allocated appropriately
- Manage the ordering and scheduling of materials to meet programme requirements
- Monitor progress against programme, identify slippage at an early stage and implement corrective measures
- Carry out regular site inspections to verify quality, workmanship and compliance with drawings and specifications
- Direct and supervise site personnel and subcontractors on a day‑to‑day basis, including the management of performance and site‑level people issues
- Act as first point of contact for clients on live sites, resolving routine matters and escalating significant ones
- Identify variations and changes to scope, and report them promptly for pricing and instruction
- Support health and safety compliance in line with company procedures and statutory requirements
- Maintain site records, daily reports, inspection records and progress photographs
- Escalate material commercial, technical and programme risks to the Managing Director
Essential Responsibilities
- Minimum five years' experience in a site‑based construction role, with demonstrable responsibility for the day‑to‑day running of works
- Proven ability to direct site personnel and subcontractors while maintaining both productivity and working relationships
- Sound understanding of construction drawings and specifications, and the ability to identify non‑conforming work
- Demonstrable experience of working to and maintaining construction programmes
- Strong organisational ability, with a planned rather than reactive approach to delivery
- Confident and professional manner in dealing with clients on site
- Safe Pass and Manual Handling certification, current and in date
- Competent in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook, and willing to work with digital site management systems
- Full clean driving licence and willingness to travel to project sites throughout Ireland
- Applications are welcome from candidates who have progressed through a trade or through site experience. A formal qualification is not a requirement for this position.
Desirable
- Experience across more than one of: residential, commercial, civil engineering, modular or renewable energy projects
- First Aid Responder, Signing Lighting and Guarding, or other relevant health and safety certification
- Qualification in civil engineering, construction management, building or a related discipline
- Working knowledge of the Building Regulations and BCAR
- Setting out and levelling experience (setting out is undertaken in the main by others and is not a core element of this role)
What We Offer
- Competitive salary commensurate with experience
- Mobile phone and laptop
- Pension contribution
- Company‑funded training and certification
- Career progression within a growing organisation
- Exposure to a broad range of project types across construction and renewable energy
Galetech Group is an equal opportunities employer. We welcome applications from all suitably qualified candidates.
