Job summary

Stewart Construction is seeking a proactive Site Manager to lead day-to-day site operations on prestigious commercial, industrial, and educational projects in Ireland. You will manage site teams, ensure safety, quality, and programme adherence, and work closely with Project Managers and engineers.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years solid site experience within the construction and building industry, preferably for a Main Contractor.

Responsibilities

  • Take responsibility for the day-to-day management and coordination of site operations, ensuring works are delivered safely, on programme, and to the required quality standards.
  • Lead site teams and subcontractors to ensure project objectives, milestones, and productivity targets are achieved.
  • Ensure works are carried out in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, method statements, and project requirements.
  • Monitor site progress and implement corrective actions where necessary to maintain programme commitments.
  • Coordinate site activities to ensure efficient sequencing of works and effective utilisation of labour, plant, and materials.
  • Support the successful delivery of projects from mobilisation through to completion, commissioning, and handover.
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of short-term and long-term construction programmes.
  • Monitor daily and weekly progress against programme targets and report any risks or delays to the Project Manager.

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Take responsibility for the day-to-day management and coordination of site operations, ensuring works are delivered safely, on programme, and to the required quality standards.
  • Lead site teams and subcontractors to ensure project objectives, milestones, and productivity targets are achieved.
  • Ensure works are carried out in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, method statements, and project requirements.
  • Monitor site progress and implement corrective actions where necessary to maintain programme commitments.
  • Coordinate site activities to ensure efficient sequencing of works and effective utilisation of labour, plant, and materials.
  • Support the successful delivery of projects from mobilisation through to completion, commissioning, and handover.
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of short-term and long-term construction programmes.
  • Monitor daily and weekly progress against programme targets and report any risks or delays to the Project Manager.
  • Coordinate labour, subcontractors, plant, materials, and site logistics to support efficient project delivery.
  • Ensure materials, equipment, and resources are available when required to maintain productivity and programme objectives.
  • Support procurement activities through timely identification and requisition of site requirements.
  • Manage and coordinate subcontractors and direct labour on site, ensuring works are carried out safely and in accordance with project requirements.
  • Monitor subcontractor performance, productivity, quality, and compliance with programme requirements.
  • Chair and participate in daily briefings, coordination meetings, and subcontractor progress meetings.
  • Maintain effective communication with Project Managers, Engineers, Quantity Surveyors, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Liaise with clients, consultants, utility providers, and local authorities as required to support project delivery.
  • Ensure all works are completed in accordance with project specifications, drawings, company procedures, and industry standards.
  • Promote a culture of quality and right-first-time delivery across all site activities.
  • Coordinate inspections, testing, snagging, and quality assurance activities in conjunction with the engineering team.
  • Ensure quality records, inspection reports, and project documentation are completed and maintained.
  • Monitor and close out defects, non-conformances, and quality-related issues in a timely manner.
  • Work closely with Project Managers, Site Engineers, and design teams to ensure technical information is available and communicated effectively.
  • Support the resolution of site-based technical, design, and buildability issues.
  • Ensure engineering controls, setting out information, and dimensional checks are implemented and maintained.
  • Monitor compliance with approved temporary works procedures and construction methodologies.
  • Ensure all site activities comply with statutory requirements, project specifications, and relevant industry regulations.
  • Maintain accurate site records including daily diaries, labour returns, progress reports, inspections, and site activities.
  • Monitor and report progress, risks, delays, and key project issues to the Project Manager.
  • Support the identification, recording, and management of variations, changes, and site instructions in conjunction with the commercial team.
  • Ensure project documentation is maintained in accordance with company procedures and contractual requirements.
  • Contribute to project reporting, lessons learned, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and support to Site Engineers, Supervisors, Forepersons, and site operatives.
  • Promote teamwork, accountability, and high standards of performance across the site team.
  • Assist in developing the skills and capabilities of junior team members through coaching and mentoring.
  • Foster a culture of professionalism, collaboration, and continuous improvement throughout the project.
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety regulations and company policies.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years solid site experiencewithin the construction and building industry, preferably for a Main Contractor.
  • 3rd level qualification or trade background with relevant experience.
  • Proven track record of working to strict timescales, with strong attention to detail
  • Thorough knowledge of building practices
  • Valid Safepass and Manual Handling certification desirable
  • Role is fully site based.
