Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced Site Engineer to join one of our client's project teams, an established construction company, on a construction project in Dublin.
This is a full-time, permanent position offering an excellent opportunity for a Site Engineer to take a key role in the technical and engineering delivery of a high-quality construction project while continuing to develop their career within an established construction team.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Project Manager, Site Manager and wider project team to ensure works are delivered safely, accurately, on programme and to the highest quality standards.
Role and Responsibilities
- Provide technical and engineering support to the Project Manager, Site Manager and wider project team.
- Carry out setting out, levelling and surveying of works using appropriate equipment.
- Ensure all setting out and engineering works are completed accurately and in accordance with drawings, specifications and project requirements.
- Review construction drawings, specifications and technical information, identifying and resolving any discrepancies or potential issues.
- Coordinate with subcontractors, consultants, design teams and other members of the project team.
- Monitor subcontractor works to ensure compliance with drawings, specifications and required quality standards.
- Assist with the planning and coordination of site activities to ensure the construction programme and key milestones are achieved.
- Maintain accurate engineering and site records, including setting-out information, surveys, inspections, site diaries and as-built documentation.
- Prepare and manage RFIs, technical submittals, design queries and other relevant project documentation.
- Liaise with the design team and consultants to resolve technical queries and ensure required information is available in line with the construction programme.
- Carry out quality inspections and ensure works comply with the company's Quality Management System.
- Assist with QA/QC documentation, inspections and testing requirements.
- Identify technical and construction issues at an early stage and work with the project team to implement effective solutions.
- Monitor materials and ensure they comply with project specifications and quality requirements.
- Assist with the coordination and supervision of subcontractors and site teams.
- Monitor progress and report any potential delays or technical issues to the Site Manager and Project Manager.
- Assist with inspections, snagging, completion and handover of works.
- Attend site, technical and project meetings as required.
- Support the implementation and maintenance of the company's Safety Management System.
- Ensure all engineering activities are carried out in accordance with relevant health & safety regulations, company procedures and quality standards.
Requirements
- Previous experience working as a Site Engineer within the construction industry.
- Relevant Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering or a related discipline.
- Previous experience working for a Main Contractor would be highly advantageous.
- Previous experience working on construction projects in Ireland is desirable.
- Strong setting-out, levelling and surveying experience.
- Experience using Total Station, GPS and other relevant surveying equipment.
- Good knowledge of construction drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and relevant engineering software would be advantageous.
- Strong understanding of construction methods, sequencing and site operations.
- Experience coordinating subcontractors and supporting day-to-day site activities.
- Good understanding of quality control and site documentation requirements.
- Ability to identify and resolve technical issues effectively.
- Excellent organisational, planning and time-management skills.
- Ability to work effectively on own initiative and as part of the wider project team.
- Self-motivated with a proactive and detail-focused approach.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong understanding of health & safety and quality requirements within the construction industry.
