Job summary

Principle seeks a senior systems engineer in Dublin to design, implement, and operate Kubernetes-based infrastructure. You will consult with service owners, build automation in Python/Go, and drive AI-enabled tooling across the platform.

Expect 5+ years in production systems, deep Linux knowledge, and expertise deploying Kubernetes at scale. This hybrid role requires 2–3 days on-site in Dublin, with an 11-month contract structure and weekly PAYE payments via Principle HR.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in systems production engineering and infrastructure with deep Linux knowledge.
• 5+ years running Kubernetes in production (CKA qualified), including architecture, security and policy agents.
• Proficiency in software development — Python or Go (Golang) for design, authoring, testing and debugging.
• Strong networking skills (ingress/egress, load balancing, DNS, TLS, firewalls).
• Experience integrating AI into engineering workflows, decision-making or problem-solving.
• A proven track record of introducing new services at scale, plus strong communication and collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Designing and operating Kubernetes infrastructure using current and future cloud-native capabilities.
• Consulting with service owners on their engineering needs.
• Building Python/Go, Ansible and Terraform automation to scale the platform.
• Improving monitoring and alerting with Prometheus and Grafana.
• Researching and introducing new open-source and commercial tools and methodologies.

This isn't a keep-the-lights-on role. We're looking for a senior systems engineer to design, implement and operate Kubernetes-based infrastructure, consult with service owners across the business, and drive real change at scale - with AI tooling firmly part of the day-to-day.
