Job summary

Ireland’s Main Civil Contractors in Portlaoise are seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their team on a wide variety of civil engineering projects. You will oversee project costs, prepare estimates, manage NEC contracts and drive procurement efficiency across multiple contracts.

The ideal candidate has a relevant bachelor’s degree, a minimum of five years’ experience in civil QS, and proven proficiency with COINS, Primavera P6, MS Project and the MS Office suite.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in quantity surveying or estimation.
• Minimum of 5 years of quantity surveying experience in civil engineering.
• Strong knowledge of NEC contracts and procurement processes.
• Proficiency with COINS, Primavera P6, MS Project and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage all project costs to keep projects within budget.
• Prepare and evaluate cost estimates, budgets, and bills of quantities.
• Manage NEC contracts including early warnings and compensation events.
• Analyse variations, manage NEC-compliant claims, ensure timely contract issue resolution.
• Conduct cost analysis and risk management for ongoing projects.
• Oversee procurement, negotiate with subcontractors, and manage performance.
• Prepare and present detailed reports on project financial performance.
• Ensure compliance with regulations and standards.
• Assist in preparation of contract documents and manage variations.

Due to continued growth, new contracts and an extensive pipeline of work, Ireland’s Main Civil Contractors have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their team working on a wide variety of projects. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with NEC contracts and a strong background in civil engineering/construction projects. This role will be based in their Portlaoise office.

Role:

• Oversee and manage all project costs to ensure that projects are completed within budget.
• Prepare and evaluate cost estimates, budgets, and bills of quantities for our projects.
• Manage NEC contracts, including interpreting contract clauses, managing early warnings, and assessing compensation events.
• Analyse and assess variations, manage claims in compliance with NEC guidelines, and ensure timely resolution of any contract issues.
• Conduct cost analysis and risk management for ongoing projects.
• Oversee procurement processes, negotiate with subcontractors, and manage subcontractor performance.
• Prepare and present detailed reports on project financial performance.
• Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
• Assist in the preparation of contract documents and manage contract variations.

Requirements:

• Relevant bachelor’s degree in quantity surveying/ Estimation
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in quantity surveying within the Civil Engineering sector.
• Strong knowledge of construction contracts, cost control, and procurement processes.
• Proven experience with NEC contracts is essential.
• Proficient in the use of COINS, Primavera P6, MS Project software and MS Office suite.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
