Job summary

Ireland’s Main Civil Contractors is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their team, overseeing project costs across a diverse pipeline of civil projects in Leinster.

You will prepare estimates, manage NEC contracts, analyse variations, and lead procurement while ensuring compliance and timely reporting. A minimum of five years' experience and a degree in quantity surveying are required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in quantity surveying or estimation.
  • Minimum 5 years of quantity surveying experience in civil engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of contracts, cost control and procurement.
  • NEC contract experience is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage all project costs to keep within budget.
  • Prepare and evaluate cost estimates, budgets, and BOQs.
  • Manage NEC contracts, interpret clauses, and assess compensation events.
  • Analyse variations and manage claims per NEC guidelines.
  • Conduct cost analysis and risk management.
  • Oversee procurement, negotiate with subcontractors, manage performance.
  • Prepare and present detailed reports on project financial performance.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations and standards.
  • Assist in preparation of contract documents and manage variations.

Job description

Due to continued growth, new contracts and an extensive pipeline of work, Ireland’s Main Civil Contractors have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their team working on a wide variety of projects.

Role:
  • Oversee and manage all project costs to ensure that projects are completed within budget.
  • Prepare and evaluate cost estimates, budgets, and bills of quantities for our projects.
  • Manage NEC contracts, including interpreting contract clauses, managing early warnings, and assessing compensation events.
  • Analyse and assess variations, manage claims in compliance with NEC guidelines, and ensure timely resolution of any contract issues.
  • Conduct cost analysis and risk management for ongoing projects.
  • Oversee procurement processes, negotiate with subcontractors, and manage subcontractor performance.
  • Prepare and present detailed reports on project financial performance.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
  • Assist in the preparation of contract documents and manage contract variations.
Requirements:
  • Relevant bachelor’s degree in quantity surveying/ Estimation
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in quantity surveying within the Civil Engineering sector.
  • Strong knowledge of construction contracts, cost control, and procurement processes.
  • Proven experience with NEC contracts is essential.
  • Proficient in the use of COINS, Primavera P6, MS Project software and MS Office suite.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
