Job summary

GPC - Global Professional Consultants in Cork is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to oversee civil infrastructure, marine, and renewable projects. The role focuses on contractual advice, claims handling, variation pricing, and cash management, with emphasis on timely final accounts and meticulous reporting.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years' experience in Ireland or the UK on civil engineering projects, a QS qualification, and strong IT skills (Cubit/Cost-ex or equivalent, Word and Excel).

Qualifications

• At least 5 years experience in Ireland or the UK on civil engineering projects.
• Construction or Quantity Surveying qualification is required.
• Strong IT skills including Cubit and Cost-ex, plus Word/Excel.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight time/quality targets.

Responsibilities

• Advise on contractual matters at project level and process contractual claims.
• Prepare and review monthly cost reports and risk/variation trackers.
• Negotiate subcontractors and suppliers prices and terms; manage final accounts.
• Ensure timely drafting of commercial/contractual correspondence and project cash management.

My client, Irelands leading Civil & Marine Engineering contractors are now searching for a Quantity Surveyor to be based in Cork working on various large-scale civil infrastructure/marine/renewable projects. Role: Advise on contractual matters general and project level. Process contractual claims and all associated records. Look for opportunities to maximise revenue and reduce cost and identify and investigate losses. Assist with project cash management. Advise and support with project correspondence. Negotiate and agree subcontractors. Negotiating subcontract and suppliers prices and terms. Ensure final accounts are closed in a timely manner. Ensure timely drafting of commercial/contractual correspondence. Prepare subcontract and suppliers documents. Prepare and review monthly cost reports. Ensure Risk Registers, variation trackers and extension of time tracker sheets are reviewed and updated monthly and included within monthly reports. Negotiating subcontractors and suppliers final accounts. Variations: Measurement and pricing. Variations: Negotiate with client, quantity surveyor and subcontractor Requirements: At least 5 years experience in Ireland or the UK on civil engineering projects Must have a Construction or Quantity Surveying qualification. An ability to achieve demanding time and quality targets. Good IT skills with competency using Cubit, Cost-ex or equivalent, Microsoft Word and Excel A willingness to attend training and to develop relevant knowledge, techniques and skills. Ability co-ordinate several different projects at the same time. An understanding and experience of construction procedures, methodology & specifications is essential.
