Job summary

A leading Irish Main Contractor in Cork is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team on a landmark €18m educational project in Cork.

Responsibilities include taking full commercial responsibility, managing procurement and valuations, handling CVRs, and ensuring financial performance through to final accounts.

Qualifications

• Degree in Quantity Surveying (Level 8) required.
• 3+ years’ experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor with a Main Contractor in Ireland or the UK.
• Experience managing commercial aspects of construction projects.

Senior Quantity Surveyor

• Take full commercial responsibility for a major educational construction project.
• Manage subcontractor procurement and negotiate packages.
• Prepare and manage monthly valuations and payment applications.
• Administer variations and change control throughout the project.
• Produce and manage Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs).
• Monitor project costs, budgets, and financial performance.
• Liaise closely with the site and project management teams to ensure commercial success.
• Prepare final accounts and manage the commercial lifecycle from procurement through to project completion.

Requirements:

• Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or equivalent (Level 8).
• 3+ years’ experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor with a Main Contractor in Ireland or the UK. Quantity Surveyors looking to step up will also be considered.
• Experience managing commercial aspects of construction projects.
• Knowledge of Public Works Contracts is desirable but not essential.
• Strong understanding of subcontractor procurement, valuations, variations, and CVRs.
• Excellent IT skills, particularly MS Excel and quantity surveying software such as CostX, Cubit, or Buildsoft.
• Strong commercial awareness and communication skills.
