Job summary

The Panel is seeking a Senior Project Manager with deep payments expertise to lead delivery across a portfolio of banking initiatives. You will bring payments requirements, processes, regulatory obligations, and technical integration together to define, prioritise, plan, and deliver complex programmes.

Ideal candidates will have a track record of leading large transformations in payments, strong stakeholder influence at senior levels, experience with Agile delivery, and relevant project

Qualifications

• Significant banking payments experience across domestic and international payment services (e.g. SEPA, SWIFT, Real-Time Payments).
• Proven track record as a senior project manager or workstream lead on large, multi-year transformation initiatives.
• Strong stakeholder management with executive/senior management influence.
• Experience of Agile delivery environments and confident RAID, dependency, and vendor management.
• Project management certification (PRINCE2, PMP, or equivalent); Agile or payments certifications a plus.

Responsibilities

• Represent the payments domain across programme governance, planning, design, and delivery activity.
• Lead the definition, validation, and prioritisation of payments business requirements with Product Owners, BAs, Architects, and Tech teams.
• Coordinate dependencies across payment engines, middleware, core banking platforms, digital channels, fraud systems, AML controls, and reporting solutions.
• Own delivery plans for payments workstreams, managing scope, timeline, budget, and RAID across multiple teams and vendors.
• Provide clear status reporting to programme governance forums and senior stakeholders.
• Drive business readiness, testing, and go-live activity through to post-implementation stabilisation.

About the Role

Our client, a leading player in banking and financial services, is looking for an experienced Senior Project Manager to act as the primary payments representative across a portfolio of strategic initiatives.

You will bring payments business requirements, operational processes, product capabilities, regulatory obligations, and technical integrations together, making sure each one is clearly defined, prioritised, planned, and delivered. This is a role for someone who blends strong programme delivery leadership with genuine payments domain knowledge and the technical understanding to integrate payments capabilities into a modern digital customer experience.

Responsibilities include:

• Represent the payments domain across all programme governance, planning, design, and delivery activity
• Lead the definition, validation, and prioritisation of payments business requirements, working closely with Product Owners, Business Analysts, Architects, and Technology teams
• Coordinate dependencies across payment engines, middleware, core banking platforms, digital channels, fraud systems, AML controls, and reporting solutions
• Own delivery plans for payments workstreams, managing scope, timeline, budget, and RAID across multiple teams and vendors
• Provide clear status reporting to programme governance forums and senior stakeholders

Requirements include:
